What Is The Moral Code You Live By?
The harsh reality of the expensive living standard has degenerated our morals as if everything now depends on money.
It is like today, everything is possible. Literally, people are willing to ensure their needs and wants are met without considering others. People no longer care what happens, or who gets hurt when they want something. That is how we live today, unfortunately.
The New Normal
A few years back, no one needs to be religious to know that golden rule of ‘treating others as you would like to be treated.’ We all expect others to be kind to us, to treat us with respect and dignity, and we expect a fair deal in all transactions etc. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case.
Our ideas of a good moral standard are messed up and confusing. There is no longer a compass pointing out to right behaviour. I am not talking here about religious people. I am speaking about how we treat each other in our day-to-today dealings. Have asked at any time, what your moral code is?
Now, each time in the news, we read headlines about how people’s morals have fallen so low in pursuit of whatever they want to get. There is no longer shame in the world and in people.
“I can’t even see what’s good anymore…” Andy Warhol
A few years back, an oncologist in America got so puffed up, he declared cancer to those who don’t even have it. One of his victims was only twenty-five, whom he encouraged to have a double mastectomy. He even gave chemo to healthy patients. All for the sake of almighty dollars.
And in the UK, a paediatrician falsely diagnosed kids to scare parents into buying care. His reason, he has a specialist care package for children that is not selling much because of free health care in the UK, so he turned drastic. This time, all for the sake of the almighty pounds.
All the news is about one of the richest men on earth about the treatment of his employees after buying Social Media, Twitter. He threw away the moral code and didn’t give a damn. He is running his moral empire with the staff's livelihood.
There are others who descended so low because of money.
Challenge Yourself
You really do not have to be in distress, for whatever reason to know how low, you will go. Day-to-day living implies we constantly ask ourselves how we will behave under difficult circumstances.
We have relegated morality to a free market economy that fluctuates with the share prices. So which one are you picking up?
How do you treat others, different from you? Are the privileged white or do you believe other people of colour are human too and do have blood in their veins?
Jackline Edung money doesn't change people, it unmasks them, and reveals who they really are. It shows their true nature. You will think because people have the choice to vote, they will choose a good leader who will benefit all. Nay. People have their agenda, and therefore relegate the best leader to the back within their votes.
As parents, we set more powerful examples of how we live our lives than what we preach to our children. A life of good examples is the best of all.
You need to know what triggers you, and how you will behave under a difficult terrain. Challenge yourself, build up yourself. Raise your moral standard and don’t leave it to chance. You will fair well in the end. Best wishes to you.

- Always think, and digest situations before you act. Anyone who wants to do right will always be supported by the Universe.
- Always do the right always. It is not all the time that taking the right decision will benefit you, so try to move away from yourself in taking the right decision.
