What is the Meaning of Beauty?

And where does it come from?

Symmetry. What a strange obsession we have with it. We never stop and ask ourselves why, but it’s one of those elements we’re always seeking to define beauty.

It’s funny, however, to notice that some artists look for the opposite of perfection in aesthetics; e.i, Picasso or Salvador Dali.

Question is, why?

If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, what gives? Pretty, beautiful, cute or ugly. What determines such judgment on our part?

Symmetry is pleasant to the eyes but only because we’ve been trained to think that way. If we would’ve told non-symmetrical is beautiful instead, society as a whole would be totally different.

Da Vinci made a point with his Vitruvian drawing of the human body and its relativity. It’d be hard to think deformity is beautiful, but that’s the extreme.
