Summary

Quora and Medium are distinct platforms with Quora focusing on Q&A and Medium on personal stories and articles, each offering unique features and earning potential for writers.

Abstract

The article "What is the difference between Quora and Medium?" outlines the primary distinctions between the two platforms. Quora is a question-and-answer website where users engage by asking and answering questions. In contrast, Medium is a publishing platform where writers can share articles, personal stories, and insights without the need for a question to prompt the content. The key features of Medium include an attractive user interface, the ability to comment on and highlight specific parts of articles, a beautiful font, freedom to share stories, and a partnership program for writers to earn money. Quora's key features include a system of upvotes, credits, and a top writer program, a Q&A format that allows targeted searches for solutions, popularity in India, especially among students, and a partnership program for Indian writers. The author, Vicky Jangra, shares a personal opinion, favoring Medium for its ease of use and freedom of expression, noting that Medium's partnership program is more inclusive compared to Quora's selective approach. However, the author acknowledges that both platforms have their merits and that the choice depends on the writer's style and interests.

Opinions

  • The author prefers Medium over Quora due to its ease of use and freedom to write about any topic without strict guidelines.
  • Medium is seen as more reliable for writers who wish to express their thoughts freely without the constraints of answering specific questions.
  • Quora's strict guidelines and the possibility of answer deletion, especially when writing about sensitive topics like politics, are viewed negatively by the author.
  • The author appreciates that Medium offers a partnership program to all writers, unlike Quora's selective approach.
  • Despite personal preference, the author recognizes that both platforms are good for writing and that the choice should align with the writer's style and subject matter.

Quora and Medium both platforms have their specific importance. But the question still which platform is better?

Key Features of Medium

  • Beautiful Ux. Writing posts on the medium is extremely attractive and it brings the talent by curate the stories on the homepage.
  • Medium offers the users to comment on the individual paragraphs and highlight the specific part of the articles which will later show up on their profile too. This is the game-changing stroke by the medium.
  • Medium has an insane beautiful font.
  • Here you are free to share your stories and for that, you don’t need to make any questions. Just write your title and start writing.
  • Medium offers all its writers a partnership program from which they can earn too.

Key features of Quora

  • Upvotes, credits, and top writer programs are effective to attract the writers on Quora.
  • Quora has a QnA format. People can exactly search the solution by putting their questions on it. Also, they can request writers to give an answer to their question which related to the same field.
  • Quora is a much popular platform in India instead of Medium. Especially among students of Engineering and Medical colleges.
  • A partnership program is also available for India while Medium is still working on it.

My Opinion about these two platforms

I personally used these both platforms for months. But the medium seems more reliable and easy to start something to write. While on Quora, you need to make answers or sometimes search for questions to answer.

On medium, all you need to get thoughts. Write a title and you are ready to go for writing. You can write about anything you have in your head. I like the medium because it let in write about those things in which I am not into. While on Quora you will face only things you take an interest.

Quora has much more strict guidelines for its users while Medium allows its writers to write up their thoughts on it. My fellow writers on Quora also face answer deletion while they write up something dirty in politics or any famous person. I didn’t yet saw anything like this on medium yet. So, Medium gives actual freedom to its writers. Also, Quora invites its few selected writers for partnership programs while medium allows it for every writer even in its start.

In the end, Quora and medium both are good platforms to start with. It all depends on your writing and writing style also. Both platforms have their own moderation policies about pieces you write up.
