What is the BRAT diet?
Contrary to its name, the BRAT diet is not a diet made just for a brat.

BRAT is an acronym that stands for bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast.
In the past, pediatricians recommend the BRAT diet for infants experiencing diarrhea because it consists of foods that are bland and easy on the stomach.
Staying hydrated is as important.
If you are still experiencing diarrhea or have the stomach flu for more than 1–2 days, contact your healthcare provider as it can be something more serious.
Continuing on the BRAT diet for an extended period of time is not recommended due to it lacking great nutrition value such as calcium, vitamin B12, protein, and fiber.
