What is Next For Us as Writers?

It is Writing. What Else Would it Be?

So, as writers, we write. Simple. But did you come to Medium to be a paid writer? Some are able to do it. Some do a little. Most, I think do not. We can always dream.

It’s like little girls wanting to be Miss Universe if they still do such things. There is only one Miss Universe. Just like there is only ever one winner. Everybody else does not win.

However, as writers, we can do more writing and that is where the benefit of contributing daily to a place like Medium comes in. With a daily writing habit comes the opportunity to scratch your mind a little bit.

Notice, I did not say head. Scratching your head does little else than relieve an itch. Scratching your mind brings forth ideas. It sets them in juxtaposition in ways you’ve never examined before.

But, when you are able to look inside someone else’s mind to see what they are mulling over, to see how it is they see reality, doing so could shift your point of view a little bit.

Sharing that, the writing of books, is so important for us as human beings. Other than acting I think it might have been one of the first entertainments.

I write with my eyes closed at times more to just be in my head with no distractions to tear my focus away from that which I want to consider.

I will wear headphones just to ensure noise from the outside does not get in to disturb me.

Also, I find it easier to see with my eyes closed. That never really happened until I became a psychic and began to experience “things” on a psychic level.

Right now? I’m going to let down a barrier, just for a second to show you something. Something that will come to me.

The tall grass. The golden tall grass, heavy with seeds brushing against the wind. My husband, the man in the blue shirt with a Stetson on his head. Sees me. Rides my way where I am sheltering from the sun under the branches of the cottonwood beside the creek.

The bank is cooler, verdant with cool.

And I gasp coming out of it. Back to my room to open my eyes. My chin was almost touching my chest. I begin to notice. The light is on beside me. It need not be anymore. The room is full of the morning sun. Notes spread before me with keywords on them from the different pieces I’ve been writing. Receipts nearby waiting for me to file, to organize to account.

Close eyes again. I don’t want to look at my life right now. I want to go back to the shade under the trees with my husband approaching.

Back to the idea of what is the next step after writing pieces at Medium. Mine will be to stitch together my books. I am on the downslope of life. I have promised myself I will write. Now is the time to do it.

Subscribe here for an email every time I publish an article. Or, become a follower. There’s a follow button on the right-hand side of the page. I try to look on the bright side of life knowing that is so very important for all of us.

I’ve been a member at Medium.com since November of 2021. In the 11 months I’ve been writing I have published 235 articles. That number, of course, will change as I write more of them. But I learned something I did not expect. I am an honest-to-God writer now.

I have a daily writing habit and I am writing the books I’ve always wanted to write. I learned how to do that here. Imagine spending less than 15¢ a day using my membership link for the best writing course you could ever hope to buy. This is the place where you will find your motivation, creativity, and friends to support and encourage you in many areas of your life, especially as a writer.

Or maybe we can just go meet at the coffee shop. I’d like that. I don’t get out much these days. I almost miss work. Almost.

Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoyed this piece.
