What I Read This Week — The Highlights

For the week of December 3, 2023

Reading is one of life’s greatest gifts. My 6-year-old is learning to read in school, and watching her reading books and sounding out words is amazing to see. I told her, once she learns how to read, she will never be bored again. Books open us up to amazing new worlds, and become lifelong friends.

Here on Medium, it is no different. We are graced each week with a wealth of knowledge and different perspectives on life. We read stories that are windows into other people’s lives. We get to know more outside the world of our own experience. The more we connect with others, the more we build our own empathy and compassion.

Being able to share and connect with others is a priceless gift. We are so lucky to be able to be a part of this wonderful community, and to connect with other writers all across the world, from all walks of life.

This week on Medium, I read 66 stories.

Every week, I highlight several stories from around the platform that have really touched me and made me think. I hope that you will enjoy them as much as I did!

First of all, I want to highlight a story by Matthew Maniaci about how the ability to save money in America is a privilege these days. I already wrote a response to this earlier in the week. But I spent several days thinking about this topic after reading Matthew’s article. I think it is an important read for everyone to think about their own privilege.

Next, I want to share a story by Kayla Tackett, talking about how she keeps a special journal for her daughter’s memories. This is a great idea for parents, to have something special for their children as they get older. Documenting memories of childhood days is so special, and I really love this idea!

Lastly, I want to share a spiritual piece from theauricspace, talking about the importance of trusting yourself and trusting spirit. I keep getting messages lately to trust the universe, so this resonated highly with me. You can feel the psychic energies in the world shifting, and it feels like something new is about to happen. This story resonates with that message as well.

I hope you all enjoy these stories as much as I did, and that you are able to find something that resonates. Thank you all for your beautiful writing, and for sharing your hearts with us.

Since this is a busy time of year for many people, also make sure that you are taking care of your mental health, and prioritizing time for self-care.

Have a wonderful week, my lovelies! Happy reading, and happy writing!
