What I Read this Week
SUNDAY: February 20, 2022

It’s that time again Medium readers, and I’m back with the latest update, on what I read on Medium this past week.
I honestly didn’t manage to get a whole lot of reading done, because I was busy running around, trying to get some important errands completed before the three-day holiday on Monday.
I went out and bought a car on Wednesday, so much of my time and focus ended up being on everything but Medium. You’ll hear more about that this coming Thursday, but for now, lets talk about some the great stuff I read this past week.
Enjoy a few of this week’s highlights
This week’s highlights consist of five of the 30 stories in my list, and as you’ll see, I took the time to cite some pretty interesting quotes from those stories.
For example:
STORY TITLE: DILEMMA
Notice this passage from Alombah Delight in theMUSINGS
“Here I am, a few weeks later, pregnant for possibly a stranger. How am I going to tell Goddy? I don’t even know Abdul’s last name. How am I going to locate the father of my baby in a strange land?”
Read and see how this crazy, messed up “dilemma” came about!
STORY TITLE: Do Your Black Children Attend An Elite Private School?
This passage is from Dr. Deborah M. Vereen-Family Engagement Influencer
“Family engagement is about the two-way partnership that must prevail between parents, teachers, and school leaders.”
STORY TITLE: February is Black History Month
This passage is from Pene Hodge in Our Souls in Words
“And like a phoenix rising from the ashes, black people survived and began to thrive, even with minimal support from the world that sought to use then eliminate them”.
STORY TITLE: The Thing They Don’t Tell You About Growing Old
This passage is from Gray Miller
“I thought if I got soft I would lose those survival skills. I worried that if I trusted that there might be enough, I’d forget how to scrounge and scramble and leverage and divide when that inevitable scarcity — of time, of money, of health or attention — would hit again”
STORY TITLE: Never Write “Wash Me” on a Dusty Vehicle
This passage is from Kristi Keller
“Initially I thought it was funny. Especially when I saw the first penis etched into the windshield of a Maserati. And several humorous variations of “Wash me” on a Land Rover.”
Final Thoughts
Be sure to take a moment and view the 30 stories in my list from this past week. Pay particular attention to the stories published by:
Robert Roy Britt, Edie Postiglione, Lisa Beth Wright, Justjulieandherblog, and of course, all the rest of the writers who shared stories during this period.
See you next week, where the final story in this feature will more than likely be published.
I’m thinking about discontinuing my “What I Read this Week” feature for good, but I’m not certain, since this is my dedicated day to comment on stories and promote other writers.
As for now, the decision is up in the air, but either way, I’LL BE BACK NEXT WEEK.
