What I Like About Me
A Challenge from Sherry McGuinn

Everything and nothing … it’s just the way I am.
The way I view the world. My insistence that its people are good and just. That hope is relevant and hate, is something to be relegated to the past along with teething rings, onesies and small training potties with images of Batman on it.
My heart; because it is well worn but sturdy. Broken several times but mended nicely which gives it character and a deeper understanding of what life is all about.
My mind for sure. I am covetous of it. Protect it and honor it and keep it well fed every day. And in return it gives flight to my words, understanding to the images I witness every day, and the ability to see through the idiocy that sometimes knocks on my door, pretending to be noble and full of promise.
I like my eyes because they don’t deceive me, they simply let in what I should see and leave the sorting out to the other parts. They are big and brown and glint when the sun strikes them, letting others know that I am home and willing to talk.
I am fond of my ideas mostly because they are quirky and the result of a perspective that is decidedly off center; borderline weird, that at times, struggles to cope with a world that whizzes past, not taking the time to say hello.
I like me. As I am. As I was. As I will one day be.
