Discovering the Unique Allure of a Troubled City

Robberies are High, but the city is still beautiful! Let me show you Barcelona in Spain.

In Barcelona, Spain, robberies are becoming more and more common. There are many reasons for this increase in crime, but the most prominent ones are the city’s high tourism rates and its proximity to the French border. With so many people coming and going, it’s easy for criminals to blend in and escape detection.

Additionally, Barcelona is a popular destination for thieves from France, who see it as an easy target due to its large number of tourists and lack of security measures.

In case you haven’t read about the robbery that happens to us on our way to Barcelona by Car.

We drove from Austria, passing through Switzerland, France to Barcelona. It was on Saturday, 19th of August from about 3:20 to 3:49 in the afternoon.

Another vehicle showed a hand signal that we shall stop immediately, and so we stop on the road shoulder, and told us that our car is on fire! The detail is on the link below.

As planned, we come to Barcelona to celebrate my birthday and we did.

Let me show you some images of Barcelona:

La Sagrada Familia Cathedral

The Sagrada Familia in Catalonia, Barcelona is a world-renowned church that has been under construction for over 150 years. The church was designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Sagrada Familia is one of the many Antoni Gaudi designs. In his architecture, Antoni Gaudi was heavily influenced by his Catholic faith and the Catalan art movement known as Modernisme. He frequently incorporated religious symbolism into his work, as well as nature-inspired shapes and bright colors.

Gaudi’s unique style can be seen in some of Barcelona’s most famous landmarks, such as the Sagrada Familia and Park Guell.

Although the church is still unfinished, it is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Barcelona, with over 3 million visitors each year.

What’s inside Sagrada Familia?

The inside of the church is breathtaking. The walls are adorned with intricate mosaics and stained glass windows, and the ceiling is vaulted and covered in detailed frescoes. The overall effect is one of awe-inspiring beauty.

The church of the La Sagrada Familia Cathedral is one of the most unique and interesting buildings in the world.

The church is still under construction and is not expected to be completed until 2026 or maybe longer. However, even in its unfinished state, the church is a sight to behold. The exterior of the church is adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures.

Catalonia is where the world-famous church La Sagrada Familia Cathedral is located.

We walk up to Montjuic and from there, we were able to see the overview of the entire Catalonia city.

The Beach View of Barcelona

The coastline of Barcelona has long been a hub for world trade. The city’s port is one of the busiest in the world, and its location on the Mediterranean Sea has made it a key player in the global economy. The city is home to a number of world-renowned trade organizations, and its beaches are popular with tourists from all over the globe.

Barceloneta Beach

My husband and I experience a true taste of Barcelona. We walk on foot along the coastline of Barceloneta beach from our hotel to the World Trade building.

This is the city’s most iconic and popular beach. Located right in the heart of the city, it is easily accessible and perfect for a day of relaxation. The beach is also great for people-watching as you will find a diverse range of locals and tourists alike enjoying the sun, sand, and sea.

The biggest beach in Barcelona is Sant Sebastia

Sant Sebastia is the longest beach in Barcelona. According to the taxi driver who drop us here, it is not as crowded as Barceloneta beach. Most locals like to come here and just relax.

There are many things to do in Catalonia city.

There is plenty of delicious food served by many renowned restaurants in Catalonia. Most of the hosts and servers speak good English. Well-known brands of high fashions are found here too.

Most of the historic buildings were amazing and beautiful. However, with every step you make here in Barcelona, you need to be careful of thieves as they are everywhere.

Wrapping Up

We stayed 5 total nights in Barcelona, 2 days we were sorting out police reports from our incidents on the highway. After 5 nights staying in Barcelona, we left and drove direction to Andorra, the smallest country in Europe.

A visit to Barcelona would not be complete without seeing some of its most famous landmarks. The top things to see in Barcelona are the following:

The stunning Gothic Quarter, the massive La Sagrada Familia cathedral, Park Guell designed by Antoni Gaudi, the iconic Camp Nou stadium, and last but not least, the beach!

I am writing a series of our road trips from Austria by Car to Barcelona and return. We went to see beautiful places which I am about to share.

The next article is Montserrat to Andorra
