What I Have Learned About Affiliate Marketing From the Pros

I have earned $20.17 — not bad for a first-timer

When you search articles about making money online, you will always see affiliate marketing as a preferred option if you want an additional income from your 9–5.

If you are successful enough, it can replace your full-time job — just like Charles Ngo — who made a sum of money from it.

If you are an old-school type of guy (like me)– to make sure that we are both aligned, you are like a sales agent earning commissions in exchange for closing a sale for a particular service or product online. You merely need to insert a link through engaging content online.

If you are that good, the affiliate link will lead people to buy that product — and a specific portion of the money collected will go straight to your account.

Generally, links are included in articles and videos when educating people about a specific benefit. As you draw closer to the final leg of the content, the link will show up (call-to-action) if you want to take things further.

As time goes by, the more I put out content, I become a better closer in this arena.

The good thing about this versus the face-to-face way of closing deals is you do not need to give leaflets or make cold calls.

If you are an introvert or not accustomed to sales rejection but want to make money — affiliate marketing is one of the best options you can try immediately.

You do not need to create your product — as long as there are online products out there in the market (that have an affiliate program) and you are interested, then go for it.

If you want to get started, these are some tips that I have learned from the pros.

Understanding the players

Let me use the principle of being in the real estate business to know how affiliate marketing works.

The elements include the following

• The developer of the property (owner)
• The closer (in charge of promoting the product, they can be a broker or real estate agent)
• The buyer (target audience, the future homeowner)

In this illustration, the developer here is the owner. He probably has courses, e-books, or services to sell.

They can sell their products or services. (of course). But if they wish to increase their sales targets — they need an army to make it happen. So they find affiliate marketers to expand their wings to hit their target.

The closer (the affiliate marketer) lends additional arms and legs to make more sales in exchange for a commission. For my LinkedIn course, I usually offer a neat commission for my affiliates to insert more effort into reaching out to my target audience.

Affiliates have various target audiences, so I allow them to create their own sales page to fit potential leads in their respective market.

They are free to market anytime, anywhere. If somebody buys (my course), my affiliate partner gets s 50% of the total proceeds from the collection.

The benefits of being a closer than the owner

I love to watch travel blogs. I watch Food Ranger, Strictly Dumplings, and Kara and Nate twice a week with my wife on YouTube.

I see their advertising products on their channel — and show viewers affiliate codes if they wish to buy them. Their viewers visit the product site (type the code) and pay for the product they (show) in their channel.

Once the transaction (is completed), they earn.

If you venture into affiliate marketing — you do not need to cater to post-sales questions. The product owner takes care of them.

The only thing you need to focus on is to link your target prospects to the owner of the product or service.

You also do not need to attend round table meetings to discuss and monitor sales with the owner. The web host and payment host take care of the distribution of your profit share.
