What Happens When You Can Not Reply To Articles And Messages On Medium

Writing my reply and then pushed the reply button and what happens…..nothing.
As a publication owner and an avid reader, this happened to me many times now. I read a story and tried to reply, and I could not. Then the replies end up in my draft stories pile up looking like this.
I have heard from other people in conversations and responding to previous stories that there is a limit to 100 responses within a certain time frame, and then you are locked out.
The claps and highlights still work only the responses are “grounded”.
When I contacted Medium about the issue in November this was the response I received.
This issue forces me to read fewer stories and pick more carefully what stories I read. Now, if I do not respond to a story it is because I can not. If I clapped and highlighted I did read your story. I would be curious to find out why there is this limit to responding. Medium Staff, Medium, Medium Support.
After a day or so I regain the ability to respond again.
Previously, I decided to write an article and mention the people and stories when I could not respond.
If this is happening to you as well I am curious what you do or how you try to avoid it.
When you run into Medium problems you can contact the Medium support center. E-mailing Medium does not work anymore you have to go through the help center. I stopped contacting Medium for this issue as it seems the problem is well known.
