Given its unparalleled flavor, it’s little wonder coffee is one of the most famous drinks in the world.
Despite the numerous benefits of consuming coffee, such as aiding in fat burning, reducing the risk of Alzheimer’s, or boosting energy levels, there are several advantages to choosing decaf or quitting coffee altogether.
Moreover, you can opt for other foods to keep your energy up throughout the day, such as avocado, bananas, or even dark chocolate. Here’s what happens in your body when you give up caffeine:
Fewer Migraines ☕
If you haven’t figured out why you’ve been getting headaches more frequently recently, caffeine might be the culprit. Reduce your coffee consumption if you drink it daily. Excessive coffee intake raises the likelihood of chronic headaches, according to a 2004 study.
Less Anxiety ☕
The increased nervousness you’ve been experiencing recently might be caffeine’s fault. It might make us feel energized, but it can also make us anxious, worried, and even cause heart palpitations or, in extreme situations, panic attacks.
I’m not suggesting you suddenly go out on caffeine, but cutting back on your dosage will help you feel its effects. Furthermore, this practice may raise your risk of depression if you drink a lot of coffee.
Better Sleep ☕
In case you didn’t know, there’s a significant link between caffeine and insomnia. Several studies have revealed that excessive coffee consumption can affect our sleep, especially if you choose to drink coffee six hours before bedtime.
Brighter Smile ☕
We all want a white and bright smile, but this might not happen if you drink coffee every day. You should avoid coffee because it, along with black tea, can stain our teeth. Additionally, the same thing happens with the consumption of carbonated drinks.
Balanced hormone levels ☕
If you didn’t know already, caffeine can increase hormone levels in the body, especially cortisol. Moreover, in the long run, it can also cause an imbalance in estrogen levels, increasing the chances of endometriosis, breast cancer, or ovarian cancer. Additionally, it can worsen menopause symptoms.
Lowers blood pressure ☕
Caffeine can increase blood pressure, so it’s preferable to consume as little as possible to lower it. If you drink between three and five coffees a day, this could increase the risk of various cardiovascular diseases.
Improved Digestive Health ☕
Excessive coffee consumption can lead to digestive problems such as gastroesophageal reflux, constipation, or diarrhea. The symptoms can be quite unpleasant, including abdominal pain, heartburn, bloating, or even nausea.

Personal Note
As I look back on my year-long quest to cut out coffee, I am astounded at the transformations my body and mind have undergone. As I was writing this piece, I wanted to talk about the positive things that have happened to me and also give you some idea of what it’s like to not have any coffee at all.
During this year, I’ve noticed a big improvement in my sleep quality, a stabilization of my energy levels throughout the day, and a marked reduction in my anxiety. In addition, my general health has improved; I no longer suffer from migraines and gastrointestinal problems.
For me, cutting out coffee was a personal journey, but the benefits I’ve felt since then have solidified my belief that it was the right decision. Everyone should listen to their body and think about the advantages of cutting back on coffee if they want to find a healthy balance.
