What Happened to the Russian Soldiers Stuck in an Elevator
Were they killed or they were left alone

The above image appeared on March 5th, 2022. It shows Russian soldiers trapped in an elevator in Ukraine.
Imagine being trapped in an elevator on enemy territory. I bet it must have been a very scary moment. What even made them make such a decision? They should probably have used the stairs instead, better get tired than caged.
The soldiers in the picture were climbing to the top of a building in Ukraine. They wanted to clear the building and take better shots from above.
The Ukrainian building administration saw them and decided to stop the elevator. They then used an industrial camera to take the picture. At the time of writing, it’s a little over a month since the soldiers were trapped. So what happened to them?
Legends say they are still there to this day. I can’t imagine the state and smell of the elevator.
Since Ukraine is huge, the transport system isn’t as it used to be. Currently, normalcy isn’t there in Ukraine. So the thought of being trapped for good is very likely.
This source says the Ukrainian Army captured the soldiers. They were informed of the incident and came to pick them up.
I imagine it must have taken them about a day or two for them to arrive. The source isn’t credible as it is posted on a meme website.
I also found a different source that isn’t from a meme website claiming the same. The source never gave any evidence or proof. So we can say it’s unverifiable.
According to an article by the New York Times, they mention the Russians occupied the building slightly for several days.
They didn’t mention the capture or escape. So we can assume, they might have unstuck themselves from the elevator and left.
Some people argue elevator doors can be opened with bare hands. So there is a possibility they might have done this and escaped. From further research, this is nearly impossible.
In as much as it depends on the type of the elevator, modern elevators are computerized, so opening the door with bare hands from the inside isn’t feasible. It can only be done from the outside with a special key.
The doors also slide in and out, so there is nearly nowhere to prey the door open.
In case of a fire, residents are instructed to vacate the building via the stairs. The special key is only given to firefighters. So the assumption that they opened the door with their hands doesn’t fully add up.
According to a post on Reddit, shootings and grenades from the floors above caused a fire that caught the elevator. The fire lasted for several hours and was put out with a humongous amount of water.
The large quantities of water messed up with the high-powered electric system of the elevator. Later, the wrecked cables cut loose and the elevator fell thirty stories into the water and submerged.
The ground floor was occupied with water as a result of fire extinguishing. Further, the ground floor water had mixed with rat poison stored and piranhas that were bred for export. (This is obviously a joke)
I tried my best to get to know what exactly happened to these soldiers. The sources I found failed to provide any solid evidence.
What is for sure though is that we can never get to know what really happened to them.
