What Happened After One Month of Consistent Writing on Medium

In early October, I decided to give Medium a real shot. I joined in 2019 but only produced a few pieces of content. This content was sporadic throughout 2019–2020. My results were less than stellar during this time, and I shrugged off Medium as many people do. I never had a consistent writing schedule and ended up doing other things.
During October 2019, I produced over 40 pieces of content on the site. This included poems, articles, and a few personal stories. I managed to have my best month ever and even had one article go viral. I haven’t seen much income over the viral article yet as it was mainly external views, but that was quite encouraging.
Hard Work Pays Off
When you concentrate on something, the hard work pays off. You need to put in the time and effort to see real results. This same can be said of anything, including writing. We all want instant results today and don’t want to work towards anything. Life doesn’t work this way. We allow our frustration to get the most of us and never even try.
By putting out consistent content, I have seen more followers, more views, and more money in my account than ever before. All I did was produce more content and keep at it. The hard work pays off in the end. You will never see results in anything if you don’t want to work. Nothing is free, and rewards won’t come your way until you work for them.
The Importance of Daily Writing
I write on most days of the week. I tend to take weekends off to relax, and I don’t write much on those days. During the workweek, I write something every day. I have done this since I started writing. You need to practice the craft as much as possible. When you stick to a daily routine, it is much easier to get the content out. You can also spend a few days to research the materials and then write if that works for you.
Far too often, we procrastinate with our writing, and nothing gets done. If you’re writing a novel, for example, make sure you write a bit in the novel each day, and before you know it, the work is done. The same can be said of articles. Write an article each day or do some type of writing, such as coming up with article topics or headlines. I usually come up with a headline and put it in the stories section. I then find an image, and when I’m ready, I write the story.
Believe in Yourself
It is important to stay positive when you write. I have hit a bad patch due to this virus, where I’m not getting a lot of other writing work. I’m writing more on Medium to boost my income during this time.
When you write, you always have rough spots. You may write a novel that fails, and you have to start over, you may find it hard to find freelance work, and so on. You need to stay positive and try other things in writing to boost your income. This is difficult at times, but if you don’t keep trying, then you can’t succeed at writing as you have given up. It is a belief in your own abilities that will put you on top.
I Read Positive Articles From Successful Medium Personalities
I spent a lot of time reading the works of Tim Denning, Sinem Gunel, Zulie Rane, and Ayodeji Awosika. These are all inspiring writers that helped me put wore words down this month than ever before. I also want to thank Dr. Mehmet Yildiz for the wonderful Illumination publication where I do a lot of my writing.
There is no way to grow your base of followers or make any money on Medium if you don’t do what so many here won’t do, which is write. I would have sat at a few cents instead of dollars if I just shrugged my shoulders and did nothing. All of these people on Medium started at one point with zero articles and put in the work necessary to grow their following and get the results.
November and Beyond
I plan to keep writing and putting out content here through November and beyond. There is no success in this world, no matter what you do, if you never work at it. Here is to an excellent November for all Medium writers.
