What Every Black Woman Writer Needs to Know About Mahogany

This channel for raising Black stories is looking for fresh voices.

Painting by me, the author, K. Joseph and Midjourney!

If you’re a Black woman writer, then you need to know about Mahogany. Mahogany is a Hallmark company that is dedicated to celebrating Black culture and stories. They have a writing community for Black women writers that is full of resources, support, and advice. Here’s what you need to know about this amazing community.

The first thing you should know about Mahogany is that they are all about celebrating Black culture and stories. They believe that every Black woman has a story to tell, and they commit to helping writers tell those stories.

They invite us to “write original content across a range of topics–romantic relationships and friendship, sisterhood and motherhood, fitness and wellness, self-love and self-care, education and work, culture, and heritage, and much more.”

Another great thing about Mahogany is that they are always looking for fresh voices. They want to hear from you, no matter what stage you’re at in your writing journey. Whether you’re just starting out or you’re a seasoned pro, they want to help you reach your goals. So don’t be shy, join the community and start sharing your voice with the world!

I did!

A friend of mine (Roz White) guided me to Mahogany and suggested that I submit a story. I reviewed the recommended themes and penned an original article in December. I also became a member of the community so that I could stay current with stories from many talented and inspiring authors sent to me each day. Then, last month, I was ecstatic to receive the news that Mahogany had published my work!

I have discovered Mahogany to be a fabulous asset for me as a Black woman who is passionate about writing, networking with other writers, and disseminating my stories. If you’re a Black woman writer too, then you need to be part of the Mahogany community. This is a safe space where you can share your voice with the world. So what are you waiting for? Join today and contribute to Black culture and stories!

The long and winding road in my head, lead to your door. I am on Medium, Instagram, the Web, and now, Mahogany!

As Roz did for me, I wish to encourage these talented writers to consider expanding their story-gifts to the Mahogany platform as well: Toni the Talker, Jamie Tukpah, Bea Kane Writes, The Onion, Devaughn Forde, Georgia Powell, Ene Ijato, Joyce Imiegha, wendy jamerson, AMEastern, Jessey Anthony, Allison Wiltz, Aniyah and Natasha Nichole Lake. The world will be a better place, I’m so sure, if you did.
