What Emily Ratajkowski Thinks Of Men Dating Younger Women
When I was younger I’m attracted to older men. Being gay, and for someone who came out late, I needed to be with gay men who have been there before and lived through the joys and pitfalls of being a gay man.
But being attracted is different from what happens IRL — in real life. I only have been with men of my age and younger. Today, I’m 53 and my partner is 43.
The one thing I know for sure about love is that love chooses you.
You end up with someone for no reason at all except you needed to be in each other’s life. While many would want to get it right the first time, the lucky ones will have many lovers in their lifetime and some of them only make it for a season or a reason.
Billie Eilish is dating Jesse Rutherford
Billie is 20 and she’s dating a 31-year-old man. Does it disturb you? Is it right or wrong? Is it predatory?
This Halloween the couple played with the old man-young girl trope and not everyone was happy with their photo.
I must have seen it on my feed, but I never really have an opinion about Billie Eilish and her dating choices, I know she’s far more mature than her age.
“I managed to get my way to a point in my life where I not only was known by a person that I thought was the hottest f-cking f-cker alive but [I] pulled his ass. Are you kidding me?” — Billie Eilish
Have you heard her when she was 15, watch her VANITY FAIR interviews. But I know why some people are harping about the age gap. Our biases and opinions are based on our own experiences.
As for me, love happens, and
as long as both are consenting adults, to each is own.
Emily Ratajkowski is an actor, best-selling author of My Body, and podcast host. In a teaser, she released on Instagram that she had for her guest, Mia Khalifa where they talked about many things including age-gap dating.
Let me share with you the transcript,
Mia Khalifa: Any guy who goes after a girl significantly younger than them
is severely lacking in their life and I mean that confidence-wise,
They are falling short in so many places and that is the only place they can turn to, to feel like they have,
they have something on the scale of power.
EmRata: And it's, I mean, ultimately, it’s predatory. I mean, there’s just no way to kind of because you’re manipulating someone who is not aware
of what they’re giving you, and it's unfair. — Instagram
Men Are …
While both Emily Ratajkowski & Mia Khalifa didn’t name names, we can look at someone who did, Taylor Swift revisited her 21-year-old self by releasing “All too Well” in 2021. Was she referencing Jake Gyllenhaal who she dated briefly when Jake was 30 and she was 21?
Taylor Swift was about the same age as Billy Eilish today and Jake the same age as Jesse Rutherford.
Final Words
Love is confusing at any age, believe me. And lovers are fools or only fools fall in love?
As for the age gap, caution is the only advice I can give to the younger person, especially if you are in your 20s, or worse in your teens.
I have to agree to some extent that you just don’t know enough, but I also know now that I’m in my 50s, that I still don’t know enough.
Age gap dating is always under scrutiny, much more when it is the woman who is a lot older, just check out what people say about Madonna or Cher on Twitter.
And for sure some men and women are predators. There will always be men or women who would think love is nothing but play.
There will be an exception to the rule, and that is where it gets tricky. There is no way for us who are looking from the outside to have a full picture of what happens inside a relationship with a clear age gap.
I can only say it the way Taylor Swift summed it up in her song, the younger person in the relationship will know in hindsight if their decision to date someone older was right or wrong because they are the ones who knew what it was like … all too well.
