What Effect Does The Pandemic Have On You?

Your choice is between seeing this time as an opportunity or letting it drag you down

In less than a week Germany has announced another three-week lockdown. The times we live in are getting crazier by the minute.

Instead of the entire situation improving we are rather seeing an increase in cases, due to extensive testing. The financial markets are extremely unstable, with a lot of fluctuations.

It really is a time to despair. It’s a time to sit in your room, watch TV and feel sorry for yourself. It’s time to imagine what life would be like if we weren’t locked in our houses, our state and our country without being to see friends and family.

Or is it?

You have the choice

Every person is different. And I totally respect that. But deep inside we all have the ability to choose. Our brains were made with the power of decision-making.

For this very reason, you can decide how you will react to this law enforced by the government.

Either you are a rebel. A person who will go to the streets, mix with more people, possibly get into legal danger and suffer the consequences of a foolish decision.

Or you try to see the good in this life-altering event. It truly is a remarkable event, that has never happened before. The world is shut down and this can be your opportunity. You can decide to use this to grow spiritually and mentally. You can up your skills for work and exercise regularly.

Choose gratitude

I don’t want to force my opinion on you. We live in a free world. However, if we decide to choose gratitude we will learn a lot of things.

Imagine going back to our lives before COVID-19. What would you be thinking of? Would you be grateful for all the experiences you could have? For the chats to your friends on the other side of the world? For the job you still have, despite these troublesome times? For the family, that supports every decision you make?

Is it those moments you will think back on, or will you be too downcast and run down to realise, that this time has a special purpose?

We can also be grateful for the simple things in life. We are well-nourished and don’t lack a drink. If we remember to be grateful for the fundamentals of life, we can grow as a person. We can leave this pandemic behind us embracing the challenges of a changing world.

Your challenge

To keep today’s article to a decent length, I will give you your challenge now.

  1. Grab a notebook — Ideally an empty one
  2. Get out your favourite pen
  3. Write down the five things you’re grateful for
  4. Try and do this daily

You will see the change after a few weeks. You will live your life in happiness and fulfilment. You will look for opportunities to thank others and appreciate their efforts.

Maybe you will also ponder, who to be grateful for.

Personally, it is my father in heaven. He has poured out riches upon riches on me, in these last couple of months.

Who are you grateful for?
