What Does the Loch Ness Monster, Big Foot and Curation Have in Common?

It’s not what you think or maybe it is.

The other day I was daydreaming and twirling the air when I thought:

What does the Loch Ness Monster, Big Foot and Medium Curation have in common?

Hmmmm. Well, for starters they are all a mystery. Some believe in them and others don’t.

For instance, I can hear the fisherman, reciting his Loch story.

Let’s call him Ian. He’s an octogenarian with a scratchy, wooly gray beard.

There’s Ian with a smoking pipe clamped between his yellowish teeth. Comfortably manspreading in his wooden chair, when he begins to recite his story:

“Yup. Saw the Loch Ness when I was just a wee lad. It was a misty morn. Heckin’ damp too.”

Rubs his bony hands together as if warming them over a fire.

“Had ’em red long johns on. Was about to pull on me overhauls and there it was.”

He stands up for this part. Puts his right hand above his eyes, as if looking out at the Loch for the very first time and continues.

Three large lumps and a head peering right at me. Feared for me life!”

“No lie. Saw it with my own eyes.”

Quite like people who track, follow, and hope to see Big Foot.

“Well, we were campin’ just up the bend there.”

Points to a herd of trees.

“Where the possums were mating and….” trails off to spit.

“I damn near peed myself when I heard this loud thunderous CRUNCH! CRUNCH! CRUNCH!”

Of course, he had to act it out for me.

And then continues, “Massive being. At least 20 feet tall. My heart was so loud I had to hold my chest.”

“Tried my darndest to take a picture but dropped my phone. Cracked it up a lot. But I know what I saw.”

Then there’s a modern-day mystery, called Medium Curation.

It’s elusive for many as it is frequent for others.

I’ve heard it described as a purely perpetual unpredictable paradox.

Those who have seen Medium Curation, swear it’s not a big deal and you’re not missing anything.

Maybe Medium Curation is like the philosopher George Berkley’s question about perception:

“If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, was a sound created?”

Therefore, if a person writes with the masses and Medium Curators don’t read it, was it ever written?

Thanks for giving me your time and reading. It’s always a joy to share and write here.
