What Does My Top Story of February

Say About Society?

My top story for February was How a Narcissist Treats His Children.

It seems it struck a nerve as the saying goes. Almost all of my articles on narcissism get a lot of reads.

Is it just because narcissism and all the other forms of the word are hot topics or because people are suffering from abuse?

I think it’s more than just a good keyword. From the comments I have received and the stories I have read and heard this is a real problem of our times.

Another question. Is narcissism more prevalent now than it has been throughout history or are we just more aware of the problem?

I think we are more aware of types of abuse and how trauma happens. This awareness brings an outcry for justice and change. But how do we change something that is a personality disorder? Do we ban all people who show narcissistic traits? Do we demand they learn to behave in a non-trauma-causing way?

And then there is the huge question of nature vs. nurture and how a personality disorder is created in what was once an innocent child.

My answer for my life is to stay away from people who cause me harm, to educate myself on how to interact safely with difficult people(in case I have to), and to live a life of freedom as much as I am able.

I think all of us who have been impacted by a toxic or narcissistic person have to come to our own answers and guidelines for our lives.

Someday maybe there will be better answers for society as a whole and ways to keep people safer from trauma.

My prayer is that change will start with and for our children so the next generation can live freer of this psychological and emotional destruction.

Please share your thoughts and help us dig into this issue.

And, as always, you deserve to live in freedom and peace,

❤ Julia
