What does Moon Bathing mean?

A magical ritual to follow!

I am so excited to tell you about this thing called ‘Moon Light Bathing,’ or ‘Moon Bathing.’ I came to know about it just a few months ago when I was researching for a natural remedy for hot flashes. I dug more into the information and found that it is an ancient practice followed by many cultures around the world. According to the age-old science of Ayurveda, just like sunlight, the moonlight has a soothing and calming effect on the human mind and body. It’s been linked with feminine energy and has to do with a woman’s fertility and menstrual cycles.

It is known that moonlight affects the bodies of water, causing high tides and low tides. Likewise, human bodies are affected by lunar energy since they are 45-75% water. Being in the moonlight may have a powerful effect on our mood and emotional well-being. Reading about it, instantly, I got excited and decided to give it a try.

Periodically, I have been looking out for a full moon so that I do not miss this precious time. Once I find that it’s going to be there tonight, I venture out to take a walk in my backyard and sit there on the grass silently. Oh, What fun it is… Oh, What fun it is…the quiet and calm that ensues takes me to an enchanted realm!

Now, moon bathing has been added to my list of rituals. When I bask in the moonlight, I talk to it… I tell it that I am very grateful for this moment. I wish that all women should experience the captivating aura of the moonlight often.

I found it fascinating to know that a woman’s menstrual cycle follows the same twenty-eight-day period as the moon does. This knowledge is thought to have been used by various cultures to enhance fertility in women. Here is the resource to find more about how this works scientifically:

The moonlight not only is beneficial for young women but also older women with menopause problems like irritability, anger, anxiety, hypertension, hot flashes, etc. Frequently basking in the moonlight may alleviate these issues and nourish your soul.

How to bathe in the moon?

Well, for me, it would suffice to just go out in the night and sit under the sky for some time. But apparently, there are certain times when you could get more benefits out of this ritual. Another fun fact I found about the moon ritual is that you can collect the moonlight in a bowl of water. That is to say, you can bless the water by visualizing the light being concentrated into the water, and then drinking this “charged” water the next day. Amazing!
