Listening to lofi hip hop gives me a powerful boost of creativity.
As a writer, I need to be in tune with my muse. There are days when it is easy to commune with my writing muse, and there are days when fear sets in and my muse is missing. I found a way to bring her back, and that is by listening to lofi music.
What is Lofi?
Lofi music is a type of lo-fi music (also known as “quiet storm” or “lounge” music) that has become popular in the 90s.
Its name is a portmanteau of the terms “low” and “fi,” referring to its compressed production.
Throughout the years, the style of music developed into a distinct subgenre, with distinctive aesthetic and trivial characteristics shared by a large number of subgenres.
As a result, specific subgenres are often confused with each other, resulting in obvious fandoms, such as “pop-rock” and “indie-pop.”
But to explain what low-fi music is, let’s use internet descriptions to describe the music, what defines it, and its role in music history.
It is synthesized and utilized in postpunk, progressive rock, noise rock, and garage rock, among other styles.
However, lo-fi recordings usually used samples of live instruments and are often self-produced. It has more of a lo-fi ambiance than the muffled and generally low-quality sound familiar in some mainstream music.
One can say lofi music is DIY music, but its history is rich, and you will be surprised by the musicians who have influenced the lofi genre.
Many use the lo-fi recording technique, combining compressed vocals, electric guitars, and vocal effects with minimal music. Often considered experimental, some who make lofi music obtained their samples from 240-bpm nightclubs, nightclubs, and sound recording studios.

There are a lot of different reasons why people are drawn to the genre. For a lot of people, they’re looking for a soundtrack to their lives. They’re looking for music that reflects how they feel, how they’re living, and what they’re going through.
In popular culture, Lofi has its share of controversy. This was when YouTube banned a popular YouTube lofi music channel by YouTuber Chilled Cow.
