What Does Happiness Mean To You?
Dancing Elephants Press weekly prompt 25 of 52
Today is the International Day of Happiness. It’s a day to be happy, of course! Since 2013, the United Nations has celebrated the International Day of Happiness as a way to recognize the importance of happiness in the lives of people around the world.
Every year has a theme. The theme for the 2023 International Day of Happiness is
“Be Mindful. Be Grateful. Be Kind.”
If you take a holistic view of happiness you will find it encompasses our day-to-day experiences and feelings and our view of life. I’d add that genetics, upbringing, and the environment we grow up in, along with the state of our health and our finances have a great influence on how happy we are.
But above all this, there’s something else that absolutely decides our happiness — the choices we make, our attitude, the way we interact with others, our own values, and what we focus on.
Happiness is, after all, a fundamental human goal.
For this week’s prompt, answer the question:
What does happiness mean to you?
Here are some thought-starters:
Is it a self-care ritual? Share it with us Is it the work you do? Write about it Is it time with your family? Your friends? Tell us about it An object you own? Describe it with a photo A memorable experience? Relive it in your post A ritual you enjoy? What is it? A kindness someone showed you? Tell us about it A mindfulness habit? We want to know Practicing gratitude? List three things you are grateful for What do you do to make yourself happy?
Think about it. Write about it.
For me, it is all of the above.
