What Do Your Medium Earnings Say About Ya?

By Alexas_Fotos from Pixabay

Howdy, fellow writer! So, how much do you earn every month? Before you answer that, I want to let ya know that you should never share your earnings. Why?

Well, there are many reasons.

Firstly, the more mysterious you are, the better your reputation is (talking from my experience, bud). From what I know, we are more attractive when we talk less about ourselves, and that’s what we want.

Do ya agree?

Secondly, we don’t want to trigger those people who hate when someone talks about their earnings. 👀

And thirdly, meh, I don’t know. Maybe because you’re fat?

I can’t make these childish jokes on Medium, can I?

My sincere apologies to those older audiences. 😂

But today, ladies and gentlewriters, since I know the importance of writing something that interests my audience (which apparently some writers don’t know), I thought I would share what our Medium earnings say about us.

Disclaimer: I’ll talk about earning based on my logic and experience (and according to some Medium writers), so you don’t necessarily have to agree with me, but I believe it’s pretty accurate. But let me know if you agree with me or not.

This platform is a very mysterious place (the least that I could say), and we don’t know how the algorithm works. But despite being all mysterious and unknown, some of us beat the game and made a great living out of it.

So I thought it was somewhat important to analyze our progress and see how well we are doing.

If you earn $1-$99 per month:

If you’re a newbie, ignore what I’m about to say because it’s not relevant to you. You’re doing great, trust me! It’s for those who have been writing on this platform for a while.

It means that you haven’t learned how this platform works yet.

You’re probably not aware of the same mistakes you keep making every month, and you inevitably waste a lot of time focusing on the wrong goals.

Some of the mistakes that I know of are spamming articles, spamming comments, engaging with the wrong audience, not properly engaging with your audience, and most importantly, not having a human tone in your articles.

Whatever you’re doing, it’s a clear sign that you haven’t learned from your mistakes yet, and you need more time to analyze them so that you can prevent making the same mistake in the future.

Or, you’re writing what you truly love.

You don’t necessarily care about money; what you care about is writing what you truly love to write and making some cash out of it.

A fun little project, I might say.

You have a loyal audience that supports your work and truly appreciates it.

You don’t have intentions to earn more; you’re just using this platform to practice your writing and maybe focus on stuff you think has potential.

If you earn $100–$299 per month:

You have now joined the Top 6% Medium Writers Club. Well, what the heck does that mean?

If you didn’t know (which I doubt), only 6% of Medium writers earn over $100.

If you’ve reached this point, you should definitely celebrate and appreciate yourself because probably this platform was the only one that allowed you to earn a three-figure income.

So you should indeed be happy and eat that cake that you bought to celebrate.

Did you really think I don’t know what you do? 👁️👁️

But despite all that positivity, you’re still slightly behind with earnings.

At this stage, you start to learn from your mistakes, and you’re seeing some good progress, but now, you start to face new problems: You might have fewer readers every month who read your articles, or you’re invisible on this platform.

Whatever the cause is, it’s definitely not allowing you to make more than $299 per month, and maybe it’s hard for you to understand the problem.

But in the end, you’ve reached a point where you start to think it’s definitely worth giving more time so that you can earn more.

My advice: just continue, pal.

If you earn $300–$699 per month:

Now things started to be a bit more interesting. If you’ve reached this point, it says a lot about your dedication.

You’re definitely serious about this platform, and you’re trying to build an empire.

Not only have you learned from your mistakes, but you’re also finding new strategies to make more money. Your articles are getting boosted, and the only problem you’re facing is not having enough readers.

I don’t know if you noticed, but the more you earn, the fewer problems you face.

You’re being consistent with your work; your readers love your articles, and for some of you, it is a decent income, and your life is becoming slightly easier (for some of us, not all).

But again, it’s not enough to replace a job, but it’s great progress, and you definitely don’t want to stop.

If you earn $700–$999 per month:

You’re getting closer and closer to making a four-figure income per month, and your dedication at the end is paying off.

You’re not making any mistakes anymore; you’re getting very effective; you’re writing stuff that piques readers’ attention; and overall, you’re just growing as a writer.

Now you understand the importance of marketing yourself, so you’re probably trying something outside of this platform (social media, emails, building a portfolio, etc.).

For you, this project went from a fun little project into a real-life-changing project, and you absolutely don’t want to give up at this point.

Now you start to wonder whether this platform will actually replace your job, and for that, you’re now working four times harder than before.

Congratulations, my friend; you did the impossible; you escaped the matrix.

It was a long, long journey for you before you saw the true light of happiness.

After countless failures, readers not reading your articles, earning a few cents a day, and learning from your mistakes, in the end, you smile and watch your back and say to yourself, “What a beautiful journey.

You’re now a rockstar on this platform; you’re officially an expert writer; you’re popular on social media; and overall, you successfully replaced your job. You know now exactly what to do for a luxurious life.

You thank yourself for not giving up, for not listening to people who didn’t believe in you, and most importantly, for believing in yourself.

An emotional journey that you’ll never forget. ❤️

Do you think I did a good job analyzing all of them? Let me know if I said something trashy, I ain’t sensitive. 🖕

I wish you all nothing but the best! Don’t give up, son.
