What Do You Advocate For?
A Counter Arts prompt for the Equality Tab.

Meaning — the subtitle — , that if you decide to participate and respond to this prompt, you are invited to use “Equality” as one of your tags. Yes, even if equality doesn’t fit your theme perfectly. Why? Because it will place your story in the Equality tab. Why deny yourself some time on the mantle?
So, yes, I need inspiration. So I need your help. It’s almost embarrassing really. A couple of weeks ago, a lecturer asked us (students) to think about a topic of advocacy we care for, and how we could bring behavioural or policy change for it.
I came up with…nothing.
But I do care about things. I care about Aboriginal rights, Women rights, LGBTQ+ rights, equality for minorities…and, yes. I really do care. But I never give myself a chance to think about these things. I’m mentally lazy that way.
But the world needs people that want change, and people that think about how to bring about change too.
So, yes, I know that I am technically not giving you an example of what to write about or how, but I will participate as well. Yes, in my own prompt. Is that meta or bat-shit crazy?
Anyway.
The Prompt.
Tell us about a social (or non-social) problem you advocate for. Describe why it is important, and what you think should/could be done to make things better.
If you need some inspo, here are some examples:
- climate and sustainability
- gender equality
- trans rights
- fuck white supremacy (yes just like that)
- workers rights
- disability
- mental health visibility
Anything you care for, really. We would just love to read about it.
Also, feel free to send the prompt forwards and tag other writers whom you think would have a great take on any given social issue. Everyone is welcome to participate.
