What Can We Do Together?
Lots!
What can we do together to overcome police brutality? We can march together for freedom, we can protest, we can gather signatures on a petition. We can contact our honorable and not so honorable elected officials, talk to the Chief of Police, attend a town hall, donate to the Floyd and Taylor families go fund me fund, speak up against racial ignorance and outright bigotry, point out injustice in the moment it happens, educate ourselves and our children, put up a Black Lives Matter sign, write a letter to the editor, post your ideas on Medium, write a poem, provide gallons of milk against the tear gas, bring water, give rides. The only thing that doesn’t work is staying home and remaining silent.

Marilyn Flower writes political humor and satire to delight socially and spiritually conscious folks. She’s a regular columnist for the prison newsletter, Freedom Anywhere, where she writes about faith and prayer. Five of her short plays have been produced in San Francisco. Clowning and improvisation strengthen her resolve during these crazy times.
