What became of Terry Mansfield?
He did not go missing; instead…
Virtual locations, like real-world ones, need the presence of a chaperone. Someone who shows you the way in, teaches you the etiquette (each venue has its own), introduces you to others, and, in a nutshell, makes you feel at ease.
Terry Mansfield is the one who has piqued my interest, increased my confidence in the possibility, and encouraged me to push the boundaries of my writing style in my Medium experience, which has given me a lot.
When I read Amie’s most recent article a few days ago (I never miss one of hers), my concerns became evident. My chaperone vanished without a trace. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one who noticed.
Terry’s advice and encouragement all came flooding back to me.
I had to act, so I contacted him on LinkedIn (the beauty of social life is that we all have more than one method to interact), and he explained what had happened. He sent me his new profile.

He has less than 20 followers and a photo of himself as a child as of this writing.
A rallying point for all of my followers and more
When used correctly, social media may make a substantial change. What social science is telling us now is that user engagement determines the patterns of evolution that platform owners must address.
So, if a writer’s reputation on Medium is built on their following,
let’s give Terry the credit he deserves. Follow him and let your followers know he’s back by leaving a comment or making your own call to action.
Together we can!
