What are the Awe-Foods in October?

Orange in October…

Pumpkin

Pie

is what comes to my mind.

I love pumpkins! And one of my doggies in the past also loved pumpkins too.

It is a very nutritious food, and it reminds me of him. He ate it regularly. I don’t know if any other dogs eat pumpkins as much as he did :) He also loved other foods, but I wonder if having pumpkins could be one of the reasons why he lived for very close to 15 years.

Another orange in October…

Sweet potatoes! Baked ones can bring out the sweetness and flavor in the air. Yes, they are orange and yum (some sweet potatoes are a golden color with their sweetness goes beyond normal — a treat in autumn).

I made chicken soup with normal sweet potatoes, onions, and garlic two days ago. All I needed to do was chop vegetables, sprinkle some salt, and microwave for about 5 minutes (it takes a few more minutes longer if the meat is frozen).

These are packed with high nutrition and help iron absorption, etc. [information I found: article 1 Onions 101: Nutrition Facts and Health Effects & article 2 How to Increase the Absorption of Iron From Foods].

It was delicious and satisfying!

I may make it again tonight.

Thank you Dennett for this writing prompt!
