What Are Some Things That Most Smart People Know, but Normal People Don’t?
5 Things Smart People Know, but Normal People Don’t
Did you ever wonder why smart people get soo much more done and are much more successful?
I don’t talk about intelligence, though. I talk about people who figured out how to achieve results the smart way and outperform everybody.
Let me shart five things smart people use to get ahead with you.
Smart people know that you can win with an unspectacular ide
Whether it is starting a business or a change in behavior, many people still think that they must wait for the perfect idea and the ideal circumstances to start. Smart people know that ideas are abundant. A winning idea always solves a problem for which someone is willing to pay. If you found such an opportunity, it all comes down to your execution. Take Amazon as an example. Selling books online doesn’t sound like a world-changing idea. Yet people were willing to pay for the service. Paired with perfect execution, Jeff Bezos changed the world with this idea.
Smart people know that they know nothing
In his book, The First 20 Hours, Author Josh Kaufman describes how to learn any new skill as quickly as possible. It’s amazing what you can learn in just 20 hours. However,
Smart people know that they are not experts after 20 hours. There is a huge gap between learning and mastering a skill. Unintelligent people often overestimate their knowledge massively. This phenomenon is called the Dunning-Kruger-Effekt and describes how people cannot objectively judge their competence.
Smart people take ownership
Smart people know that mistakes provide valuable lessons, so they take responsibility and don’t blame others. People are often afraid to look stupid, so they try to cover up their mistakes or seek out someone to blame. If you look at it objectively, though, the person who can stand by his mistakes and learns from them will quickly gain respect and becomes someone you can look up to.
Smart people know where they started
If you are ambitious, it’s easy to become dissatisfied. Progress often comes slowly. If you then compare yourself to the person you want to become, it often feels like you are running behind.
Sometimes this feeling can push you to give more. But if you always use this negative motivation, your drive will fade.
Smart people know that you have to take a break and look back from time to time. Celebrate your achievements, reward yourself, and come back stronger.
Smart people can function without praise
You probably know a person or two yourself that can’t function unless she’s praised continuously.
Those people rely soo much on external validation that they continuously post on social media, brag about their latest accomplishments, but never get anything meaningful done.
Smart people know that they sometimes have to endure long stretches of hard work until they get a result. And even then, they get pleasure from achieving a milestone itself and not from other people. This mindset enables them to achieve remarkable results and become true leaders.
The Takeaway
Everybody can act smart. It has nothing to do with your intelligence, where you came from, or how you look. It all comes down to making the right decisions and learning from your mistakes.
I hope the five examples will spark your imagination.
