What About The Children?

We seem to be hearing from everyone. We hear and see the improvement of our environment through cleaner air. We see the animals exercising their right to roam freely, happy that humans are no longer around to violate their rights to go wherever they feel like. They too are speaking through actions. We hear from humans complaining about everything. Some businesses are afraid to reopen, others are taking the risk of opening too soon. Though not by choice, because their survival is at risk from both ends.

Many adults are going crazy fighting with themselves and others just to obey the rules.

Looking ahead, all of us see a huge question sign, and many of us see hope lingering nearby. Yes, it means an uncertain future is facing all of us. No one has the answers. Hope is speaking in our hearts through kindness, consideration, understanding, love, and all of the good things that humans are doing to, and for each other. In some countries, hunger is speaking through the looting of supermarkets, shops, and other places that sells food as the world seems to be running out of food. Yes, hunger’s action can be dangerous when it speaks because it wants to feed.

This crisis has touched everyone and has increased our level of Fear and Paranoia.

One set of people no one has heard from, The Children. They are asking lots of questions. Like, “What are viruses? Why is it killing so many people? Why can’t the doctors stop it? Why can’t I go to school? Why can’t I visit my Nana? Why can’t Jaynie come over? Why can’t I go to the park to play? When can I see my friends? Will this virus hurt my pet? Why do I have to do this? Why should I do that? Why is everyone so sad? No one is smiling anymore, why not?

I wonder what they are thinking. How are they coping? How do they feel about what is happening in our world now? Do they understand? Will they survive this? If adults are having such a hard time coping, even with their knowledge, understanding, and experience of life, then what about the children whose innocence leaves them with nothing to stand or sit on?

I have to find ways to motivate, encourage, and uplift myself, while fighting hopelessness that weakens me, and is trying to steal my ability to survive. How about you? How are you fighting, or surviving?

Can someone please find out how our children are really handling this crisis.

Thank you for reading this piece. Please reach out to a child today, technology will help you.
