What About Substack? Exploring the Potential, Pros, and Cons
Starting on Substack?

Lately, Substack has been making waves in my circles, but I find myself hesitating to dive in. Questions swirl in my mind, casting doubt on whether starting on Substack is the right move for me.
Traditionally, I’ve relied on platforms like Upwork and LinkedIn to connect with clients, never really considering venturing into new territory.
However, the recent suspension of Medium accounts served as a wake-up call. It underscored the importance of diversifying my content and ensuring I have a secure client base across platforms. After all, if a platform suddenly pulls the rug out from under me, having my own business stronghold is crucial.
Let me give you some context: I’ve been living in the UK for the past decade, miles away from my home country.
In my community, there’s a growing number of individuals striving to balance building their businesses with family responsibilities. To support them, I’ve been hosting free sessions, offering guidance on kickstarting freelance careers and securing clients.
But here’s the conundrum:
1. Can I actually make money on Substack if I’m only offering free newsletters?
2. And with countless free newsletters saturating the market, what would entice people to subscribe to a paid one?
It’s a puzzle I’m eager to solve. Join me as I explore the scope of Substack and weigh the pros and cons of subscribed newsletters. Who knows? We might uncover a world of possibilities waiting to be tapped into!
Don’t forget to share your expertise about Substack, as I know many of us here are using it regularly.
