Here are the benefits you will gain from this story:

  • You will learn about the 5 specific writing tips that can help your stories appear more attractive and appealing to readers.
  • You will learn why those 5 tips are important to your writing.
  • You will be shown exactly how to apply those 5 valuable writing tips.

Guaranteed Benefits

Okay, now here is what you came for; the five tips that will guarantee your stories become more attractive to readers. Of course, it starts with your titles and subtitles, but it certainly doesn’t end there.

Think of your story titles like window shopping before you actually go into the store to buy an item.

All five elements can help your stories paint a beautiful picture; the kind that makes a reader: Stop, admire, go check it out, and last of all, decide to make a purchase.

That is why the following elements are not only important to your story’s title, but they can also be implemented into your actual story as well.

In a second, when we get ready to break these elements down one-by-one, you’ll see how I applied most of these items in my own title.

5 Helpful Tips are:

1) Use Questions — Using questions capture readers attention, because it’s human nature to be curious. By nature, when we hear or see a question posed, we automatically get interested, even when the question is not meant for us.

2) Use Numbers — Using numbers in your titles is something that is like a magnet to readers. For whatever reason, people tend to be fascinated by numbers, and especially by titles that list various things. It can also help to add numbers inside the story, because it helps readers remember specific points better.

3) Use Descriptive words — By using descriptive words, you make whatever you’re talking about appear more vividly in the reader’s mind. Why simply use the word “chair” when you can add a descriptive word like “cushy” or “firm”to paint a picture and help the reader visualize it better?

4) Use Emotion — When you use emotional words in the title, subtitle, and/or story, it causes a reaction in the reader and makes them feel a connection to the material. That’s a good thing, because now you’re drawing them into the story.

5) Use Bullets — Using bullets allow readers to go directly to the points that are important, and refer back to them when they need to. This also makes the material more memorable. But be careful about overusing bullets. If you put bullets with everything, give the illusion that everything is important, then, suddenly everything is the same, and nothing seems important.

Are you disappointed because you didn’t get some earth shattering news about creating attractive looking stories? Well if you are, don’t be.

Sometimes it is the simplest things, and the things that seem the most obvious, that writers have a tendency to forget.

Whether we overlook the obvious, or just don’t feel like taking the time to do what’s necessary; either way, failing to use the above elements in your writing can cause your stories to seem unattractive.

What if you quit trying to figure out what will make your readers stop, stay, and comment, on your stories, and do something different instead.

You don’t have to imagine what will make them react to a title or a story; just think about what makes you do all those things, then, work on crafting the right title and writing the best story you can write.

That is how you create attractive stories that readers will want and enjoy reading.

The Takeaway

Now that you know and understand the importance of the 5 tips that I shared with you, notice how I applied these same elements in this very story.

Based on what you learned in this material, you can let me know how good (or poor) a job I did.

1) My story’s title leads with a question, and my story’s content also contains questions. Remember why we said this was so important?

2) I included a number in my title, and I also included numbers in the story. Don’t forget what we discussed about using numbers.

3) I used an important descriptive word in my title, plus I used words in the story that paint a vivid picture. Do you recall how valuable this can be?

4) I used the emotional words “appealing”, “reliable” and “depend on” in the title and subtitle and other emotional words in the story. Don’t forget why these words can be an advantage if you include them.

5) I used bullets in my story to emphasize crucial points. Remember the caution about doing this correctly.

After giving my title, subtitle, and story content a little more consideration, how do you think I did with implementing the things we talked about?

Hopefully, you see the value in the writing tips provided in this story, and you will heed the advice and opinions that were given.

This information is being offered, in an attempt to help writers who feel like they’re failing when it comes to creating titles and stories that are attractive and appealing.

It is my belief, that the advice I’ve shared from watching and listening to other writing professionals, can help us all to grow. My plan is to increase my productivity on the Medium website, and continue crafting attractive titles and stories.

I for one, plan to pay the strictest attention to these 5 tips, that guarantee my stories will be more appealing to readers.
