We’ve All Got Quirks!
Here’s Some Of Mine… How About Yours?
I’ve mentioned before I’m quite particular about some things like vacuums and forgetting to start my car before trying to take off. There’s other stuff too. Like folding laundry, though if you saw the multiple baskets of clothes, you might beg to differ.
At any rate, in no order of any kind, here they are:
- I like to make piles of stuff. Like books. I like stuff to be aligned properly on coffee tables and other such things like countertops, shelves, etc. Of course, keeping them this way is another story. I’m not rigid like I used to be. I had to give that up or there would be a constant war at home. It simply wasn’t worth it. Someday maybe I’ll be more organized, and maybe cows will fly. Not pigs… Cows.
- I can’t seem to stop collecting books. It’s like an intense thirst or deep-seated hunger just to have them. A great comfort. A home is not complete without books. Contrary to what KonMarie says, thirty books aren’t nearly enough. I must have more. I’d like to build a castle of books! But they would tumble and I’d be buried. I can think of worse ways to go.
- I like labels to show. This way I don’t have to go searching. However, this is yet another cruel irony. I’m forgetful when it comes to putting stuff away. It may be gone forever, or I may find it sooner than expected. Nobody knows… There’s an ongoing joke. If you want to find something, hide it from me. Of course, this has repercussions for obvious reasons.
- I have a specific way of organizing dishes, both to clean and for stacking the dish rack. I can’t stand dishes which are precariously stacked and may tumble and shatter. Knives must point down, teaspoons must be grouped as well as tablespoons and forks. Tall forks together and dessert forks in their own little bunch. It’s just practical, you know. Shelly McIntosh understands this.
- Drawers in dressers… if I had it my way, I’d have drawer organizers for every group of clothing. ie, socks and underwear, bras, etc. categorized of course. Winter socks, summer socks. Dark socks, light socks and so it goes.
- My closets are another story. I might mention I worked in retail for a number of years. Hangers had to point to the left when hung on the rack. Light to dark clothing in sections. Dress pants, casual pants, you get the gist. I love tidy closets and dressers. But boys don’t tend to care about this stuff much. I pace myself and try not to get in a tizzy when items are messed up just after putting them nicely away. I do my best to keep things somewhat orderly…
- Amongst my books, I have a book about organizing. How weird is this? If you know me well, not really. Except I became overwhelmed by the book and never read it in its entirety. So why not give it away? Because I might just read it someday.
- I once tried to organize my son’s lego. Another futile mission. Enough said.
- My make up bag is organized a certain way too. lol Even though I rarely wear it these days. KD Murray says, “Always wear lipstick!” Well, my dear friend, :D I like lip gloss! I also like a lot of cleansers, toners, scrubs, and masks! I just love them… Having said that, I need to actually use them more often, rather than collect them. I’ve been known to have products like lotion for almost a decade. Not good!
- I love love love vacuums! I love to watch dirt get sucked up! I have a fetish for vacuums and cleaning products. The cruel irony: I need RedBull, music and an empty house to be in any kind of cleaning mode!
Care to guess how often this happens?
Not nearly often enough!
12. Oh, and I like cleaning cars, but right now my car is a mess! I’m a conundrum!
13. I like even numbers unless the odd numbers can be divided evenly. Except in cases when it’s my fave number like 7 or 13, or double-digit of the same number. Yup, I’m a weirdo! Sometimes I even clap a certain number of times. If it’s an odd number, I might just clap one more time to make it even.
And one for good measure.
I love animals and nature, (though I’m none too fond of bugs. Butterflies are good though). Animals just have a quiet peace about them. Pets love unconditionally and don’t care how you look. They enjoy your company. I love the trees, the sky, the crunch of the ground beneath my feet. The smell of nature. And even though I’m not fond of winter, I do love the way it looks.
There, the magical number 13 +1! Cloaked in mystery. I better wrap this up. I’m gonna tag a few people. The first being, Sherry McGuinn, since we were just talking about it.
