A LITERARY IMPULSE CHALLENGE
We’re Back And How!
Exciting Stuff In Store

Did all of you, miss us? I bet you did. Did we miss you? Yes, yes, and yes.
You know, life’s strange. We build something from scratch, with all the passion, time, and energy, thinking it’ll grow into what we envisioned it to be. Then, it does, slowly but steadily, but again, it fades away, not reaching the snow-capped mountain top, that our hopeful soul had wanted. You smile, and think, okay, maybe not know, maybe later. And on top of it, a lot of other things come into the picture, and that one woollen sweater you wanted to sew and gift to someone special, gets left midway, waiting, waiting eagerly for your eyes to fall on it again, and re-start with that same vigour.
Literary Impulse is that woollen sweater, that was on the backburner for a long, long time. We were publishing bits and pieces, but not something grand, literally changing things in Medium space, which was our motto, a long time back when it all started. We were planning to be back, and seasons changed, and so did the world, and the people, but our plans took the backseat.
We love comebacks. I love comebacks. Your favourite team, say in soccer, is 2–0 down, and scoring 3 goals, winning it 3–2 in the end, isn’t that instant goosebumps? As I write this piece, I have the same feeling. Goosebumps, instant goosebumps on my skin.
You cannot imagine how I am feeling, to be back, with plans to take Literary Impulse back to where we wanted it to be, along with the amazing team members, Priyanka( Priyanka Srivastava) and Rahul( AAWEG I *We put ghosts in machines *) whom you might already know. They both are exceptional writers in their own right, you can go and check their pages out.
Also, nothing at all would be possible without you, dear writer, and also not without you, dear reader.
Enough blabbering and emotional rollercoasters. Here’s what we want from you, the brilliant writers, of Medium.
- We want poems, any poems, whichever form, or free of any form. Surprise us, like you all did, throughout our journey on Medium. Please make sure it isn’t abusive or hurts anyone or anything.
- We also want short prose, be it fiction, non-fiction, or essays. One small rule here though, the length should not cross 1500 words.
- You are free to use any tags, but please do keep one mandatory one, Literary Impulse.
- You’re free to choose the kicker and the subtitle part.
- You can send in multiple poems or short prose.
- This contest of sorts shall continue for 2 months, starting today. A good amount of time, we suppose.
- Please, mandatorily, tag 5 writers in your post, and share a link to this original post, so that it reaches a wider audience, and we get more and more exciting entries.
Now, what about the good things that may result out of these submissions that you do?
- As you know, Literary Impulse is a Medium publication of ShabdAaweg. ShabdAaweg again has earned a good name in the literary publishing space online. So, as the entries start pouring in, we’ll be reading them and start collecting the best to be published on the ShabdAaweg website. We’ll work closely with the authors with regard to editing, visibility and every single detail you might think of.
- A big plan, this one. You might know, we have published two anthologies already, with writings from the amazing Medium community. And that’s what we’d do again. After 2 months, when the submission window closes, we’ll handpick 20 pieces and bring an anthology out of it. Just so you know, here are the two successful anthologies we have published and are on sale on Gumroad, namely, Hiraeth, and, Andoumboulou/Vorfreude. Take a look, if you want.
That’s all for you. Get writing, everyone.
Take care in your part of the world, we’re waiting to read you.
Best regards, Som( Somsubhra Banerjee)

And, here’s the new look of our website, where all the good work gets published and showcased to the world:-
We are actively promoting the work of our writers across Twitter and Instagram. Please keep an eye on the proceedings there, too. Do follow us, if you haven’t already.
Tagging a few of the exceptional writers, who have submitted earlier or shown a great amount of love to Literary Impulse. We apologize in advance if we’ve missed anyone. Please be assured it might have just been a slip from our old minds. We hope to receive love and words from the entire Medium community. And this, in no way, is to spam you with notifications.
