Welcome to my musings.

A little window into my life

Key West, FL 2016 (Photo by Author)

I penned this little bio as a challenge to myself, and as a writer/contributor for Illumination. I normally don’t like to bring attention to myself, but I considered it to take me out of my little comfort zone and do something different. I’m getting better at accepting “being different”.

Thank you Dr. Mehmet Yildiz for this opportunity! 🙏

Greetings and Salutations!

My name is Angie 👋 I have a story. We all do, actually.

My story is rather an eclectic journey that led me from confusion to clarity, from fish-flopping to achievement, and broke to abundance.

I am the youngest of 2. In fact, I am 9 years younger than my brother. My parents were married for 42 years when my dad passed from metastatic renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer). My mom is still alive and driving me crazy.

Growing up I loved reading, writing, and music. I wanted very badly to play the piano. My mother and grandfather both played guitar. I didn’t like the guitar. I was the oddball. So I wasn’t allowed to play the piano either.

But I do now! 🎵

I was always reading and writing something. I was very quiet and shy (still kind of am today). I was always told when I was little “you can do and be anything you want”. But anytime I would take interest in something or ask “can I do…”, I was met with a resounding ‘NO’. I always heard “girls don’t do that” or “no, you can’t do that” or “we don’t have the money for”.

I literally grew up thinking I couldn’t do anything. Sadly this spilled into my adult life.

I had to figure things on my own.

I lived the first 30-some years of my life in what felt like a constant state of confusion. I was not taught to have a vision for my life.

I had some bad programming I had to delete from my supercomputer (my brain). For some reason, those files take a little longer to delete. Sometimes my system crashes.

But I am happy to report I now have a vision! I am learning to live my best possible life.

And writing has been a part of that amazing and beautiful process. 💖

Randomness at it’s best

My likes and interests are very random. I’m a complex creature.

I love cars (especially fast ones). I love music and writing. I love photography and the outdoors. I love and practice natural wellness. I love animals, especially dogs. I love to travel, and go fishing with my husband.

Me and my bucket list fish, a White Marlin. OC, MD 2020 (Photo by Author’s Husband)

All my life, I wanted to catch a “swordfish” (as I used to call them when I was a child). When my dad would go out deep-sea fishing, I would tell him to catch me a swordfish. My 6-year-old brain had no concept of deep-sea fishing. Last month (July 2020), I caught my swordfish (a white marlin). My husband was there to see it happen. Dreams do come true!

I am a nerd at heart.

For some reason, I seem to collect unicorns, coffee mugs, and anything with a wiener dog on it (after all, I have 3).

Albert Einstein is one of my favorite humans of all time.

I love The Office and Deadpool.

Like I said, random.

My Musings

I still have so much to learn and contribute. Every day is an adventure! Every day gets better and more exciting.

“I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious” — Albert Einstein.

I get to do technology stuff, business and entrepreneur stuff, creative stuff, nurse education stuff, and soon Ph.D. stuff.

And now, I’m writing stuff too.

I enjoy writing about inspiring information and life lessons. Soon I will be musing about my Ph.D. journey.

I hope to help and inspire others, to take action in their life to create their hopes and dreams, and be their best possible self!

I am perfectly imperfect, and I am now okay with that.

Feel free to reach out and contact me via Medium, or shoot me an email: [email protected]. I’d love to hear from you!
