The Weird Series: Weird Thing #1
The Glowing Dog in The Princess Room
In my jealous younger-sister mind, my older sister was The Princess in the family. She had French Provencial style furniture complete with a canopy bed. I had my brother’s old bed. I have brought this travesty of justice up to her often. Mostly joking I still say to her, “YOU got the Princess Canopy bed!” But I’m not bitter (much) and it did fit her because she was a ballet dancer.

I loved napping in The Princess Room when my sister wasn’t around, and I may or may not have kissed a poster of Paul Revere and The Raiders that she had on the wall. I paid particular attention to Mark Lindsay.

Here’s the Weird Thing Part
One summer afternoon, I had awakened from a nap in her room. I believe this was just prior to entering 6th grade.
Suddenly, there was a buzzing in my ears followed by temporary paralysis, and I could barely turn my head. This often happened as a precursor to a Weird Thing.
I could see a form manifest in my peripheral vision, which I described later as a glowing dog. We had a large Samoyed at the time and this was not our dog.
I’m still not sure what it was because I could only see the top of it, and it was glowing with a strange white-gold color. To be honest, the last thing I wanted was to see the rest of it, much less invite it onto the bed for a cuddle.
I didn’t feel like I was in danger, but even so, I was frightened.
The Weird Thing was running back and forth around the bed's perimeter, and it didn’t make any sound at all.
Then it vanished suddenly, and it never returned.
What say you, Reader? A ghost? Something that popped in from another dimension? A post-nap hallucination?
Below are the other two Weird Things. Enjoy!
