Weighed Down by the Years in Your Life? Choose Happiness.
Making joy a priority

Aging is a natural part of life; embracing it with a positive mindset is vital. One key aspect of aging joyfully is prioritizing having fun and finding joy in everyday experiences.
We can find joy in the simplest things, like a hug from a loved one, a beautiful sunset, or a good laugh.
As a depression sufferer since my teen years, my response to the question, “Are you happy?” was, for the most part, a resounding “NO.” To recover my joy in living, I used the strategies listed below, taken from various readings.
If I ever consider myself happy, it was at a particular moment when I was enjoying myself. It took me a long time and numerous painful and challenging moments to think myself happy. The good thing is that it is attainable.
It was at this time that I became a mindset coach. Changing my attitude to a positive one was a revelation for me. I understood that I was responsible for my unhappiness. I got rid of my limiting beliefs and wean myself off of my bad habits. Each day, it was easier to find contentment and pleasure within myself.
Strategies to Help You Learn How to Be Happy.
First, you need to figure out what brings you joy and do more of those things while doing less of what makes you unhappy. Many of us don’t pay attention to what brings happiness and fulfillment to our lives. Nevertheless, recognizing and valuing our pleasure from small things can lead to a happier life.
We can discover joy in every aspect of our lives if we pay close attention. Joy generates a positive feeling. Even small interactions and brief moments can bring us immense happiness and a sense of liberation.

Surround yourself with people who bring happiness, laughter, and comfort. Rediscover your passion by trying old hobbies or new interests, like painting classes, dance lessons, or book clubs. Stay active, eat well, and spend time with people who make you happy. These things can help you achieve lasting happiness and well-being.
As we begin the month of February, try new activities or pursue new goals in your existing hobbies or passions. Consider listing things you’ve always wanted to try or accomplish. Then, challenge yourself to see which things you can make happen this year, this month, or even this week!
Remember, aging is a journey; finding joy and having fun can make it a fulfilling and rewarding experience. So, prioritize activities that bring you happiness, surround yourself with positive people, and embrace the beauty of aging with a joyful heart.

According to Cooke, appreciating the beauty surrounding us and acts of kindness transform ordinary moments into joyful, heavenly ones.
