A Personal Note

For those who heard about my run-in with a cat last week, I wanted to share that I’m on the mend, both physically and emotionally. Initially, fear nearly persuaded me to give up my pet-sitting business. But, I couldn’t let one unfortunate event overshadow the joy I’ve found in this line of work over the last five years.

I truly cherish the opportunity to care for others’ pets, though I think I may steer clear of cat-sitting for a bit.

Tesie’s Top Read of the Week

This week I’d like to draw your attention to a deeply touching piece by Barbara Carter, “How I Gained Serenity in My Life”. Carter’s narrative is a striking exploration of finding inner peace amidst the turmoil of life’s storms.

Using the wisdom of the Serenity Prayer, she illustrates her journey through her husband’s addiction struggles, providing a glimpse into her strength and resilience. Her experience reminds us of the power of surrender, of recognizing what we can and cannot control, and of finding serenity in acceptance.

My Week in Words — In case you missed it!

Once upon a time, in the heart of an epic tempest of life’s surprises, I found myself caught. Not in a “doomed heroine” kind of way, but more in a “let’s ride this storm out” approach. And by golly, what a storm it was!

Mother Nature really knows how to whip up a doozy, doesn’t she?

But hey, life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass; it’s about learning to dance in the rain. Or in my case, juggling responsibilities and chores while doing a clumsy jig. Life and its unpredictable weather, eh?

But then, in the midst of my wild rain dance, I realized something — life, much like the tempest, was flowing around me, like a mighty river.

Suddenly, I wasn’t just Tesie Mills, awkward dancer extraordinaire.

Oh no, I was now Tesie Mills, river explorer, and part-time philosopher. Because isn’t life itself a winding river?

And what better company for these philosophical musings than, well, myself? Nothing like a heart-to-heart with oneself while bobbing along life’s currents. “Self,” I said, “how’s the water?” To which I replied, “Quite invigorating, thank you very much!”

But it wasn’t all stormy weather and philosophical river rides.

No, no. Between these eureka moments and the occasional stumble (have you ever tripped over your own epiphany?), I discovered a blooming garden within me.

Not your usual kind of garden, mind you, but one sown with seeds of self-love and acceptance. We all have our own inner gardens, don’t we? An exciting revelation for sure!

So there you have it, folks!

My week — a storm-ridden, river-riding, self-chatting, garden-tending whirlwind.

It was a rollercoaster, but remember, whether you’re a weather warrior, a river rafter, a self-consultant, or a heart gardener, it’s your unique journey. I’ll continue my adventures, chuckling at life’s whimsies along the way. And until next time, keep exploring, keep laughing, and keep living your story. After all, life’s too short for anything less!

How was your week? Let me know in the comments below!
