Weekly Prompt: Professionals

We’re counting on you to design a great story and present your case. You know the drill!

Welcome to the fourth and final weekly challenge for May 2021, where the theme is (Mis)representation.

As we said in the Monthly Theme announcement, the goal is to get you to focus more on the characters than would usually be the case with microfiction and flash fiction.

And once again, our growing team of editors (i.e., Zane, Paul, and I) continue to be impressed at how many great stories we have received on the performing artists’ theme.

We’re down to just 50 words now, which will be challenging — but that’s why we’re all here, right?

Choice Of Characters

So, for this final week, we have a selection of professionals for you to pick from. Your challenge is to choose one of them and make that person the main character in your story:

• Accountant
• Architect
• Dentist
• Lawyer

Challenge Requirements

Your story must:

1. Feature one of the four professionals listed above as your primary character.
2. Be exactly 50 words long, excluding the title, subtitle, and any post-story bio/links. (We use Medium’s own word count feature.)
3. Be fictional, even if it includes factual information or concerns.
4. Use “Professionals” as one of your five tags.

On the one hand, you only have to write 50 words — but on the other, the challenge will be to use the best 50 words you can. :-)
