Week What I Read this Week

SUNDAY: January 30, 2022

Greetings everyone and may I say I’m happy as hell to be back to myself! I think it’s finally safe to say that I’m over COVID, after having contracted it from my sister/roommate, that I also provide care for.

I’ve actually been pretty much symptom- free for a good week, but mentally, I just didn’t feel like me until the last two days.

As a matter of fact, today I feel super awesome and I’m happy to present to you a few tidbits about some of the 30 stories in this week’s list of titles today.

Over the past week, I read some stories that I honestly overlooked, and forgot to add to the list. Sorry folks, I’ll get you guys later I’m sure.

I say I’m sure, because that’s what I end up doing. Once I find someone that I enjoy reading, I find myself having to make sure I don’t binge read their work for too long in one sitting.

Although I’d love nothing better than to do that with so many of the awesome writers on Medium; if I only read two or three authors during the course of my reading time, I wouldn’t cover much ground.

This is why the list feature is so awesome when you’re reading — when you remember to use it:

  • You get a chance to refer back to stories like I’m doing every week, and locate the ones you specifically want to mention.
  • You get a chance to see just which writers you support the most and really get a better idea about what kind of writing styles are most appealing.
  • You get a chance to discover what kind of topics are most appealing.
  • You get a chance to show your support for the writers and their stories.
  • You get to — hopefully — be an example to other writers, on how to be more productive and yet supportive at the same time.
  • You get a chance to practice being consistent, and showing others how to be consistent also, either as readers, writers, or both.

Anyway, you get the picture, and I’m guessing, by now, you see the benefits, so enough of singing praises for the list feature.

Now, let’s get to some of the stories I highlighted below from the list. There not categorized in any particular way, so just read and you’ll notice a diversity of topics, including some humorous ones and of course, some that talk about writing, and specifically Medium.

Once again, please e sure to take a few minutes if you have a little time, and CLICK THIS LINK FOR ALL 30 STORIES.

Enjoy…

Starting with the most recent stories read, and working my way backwards, here’s one I couldn’t overlook on the highlights.

I had such a good laugh from reading: The Curse Of The Well Endowed Woman by Medium writer The Garrulous Glaswegian

I left her a comment and apologized for laughing at her expense, but the story was hilarious, and once upon a time, I could even relate.

Not to be outdone on the anatomy references, Medium writer BichoDoMato wrote an slightly humorous, but mostly interesting story called: Not For Your Eyes Only: Private Notes Are Not That Private.

I found it quite interesting to ponder over the fact that leaving a private note for someone doesn’t mean no one but them will see it. Check the story out and see what you think.

Man, did writer Jessica Wildfire spit a lot of truth in her story titled:Here’s Why Nobody Wants to Work Anymore (Again).

Believe me ladies and gentlemen, this story was right on point! All I can say is: Who the heck says there’s nothing to read on Medium but stories about Medium? You folks are just looking in the wrong places, and this and other stories in my list, really prove my point.

One of the resident doctor’s on staff around here wrote another one of his humor pieces titled: Keeping David Perlmutter Busy and Off the Streets.

In case you recognize the name in the title, Yep, you guessed it. This story was a piece of satire from writer Michael Burg, MD (AKA Medium Michael Burg), and of course, it was about the controversial Medium writer David Perlmutter.

For some strange reason, David’s been the subject of Medium Hot Topics lately. Then again, is the reason really strange? Read and see for yourself, and while you’re at it, be on the lookout for my upcoming related story called: Stop All the Fuss about Highlighting Stories and Consider the Advantages!

This title is currently under review, but stay tuned because it will be published later this week — one way or another.

Moving on…

I don’t know how some of you feel about stories dealing with finance, but a story by Tim Denning definitely piqued my interest. His story titled: Let’s Hope Bitcoin Crashes to $100 (Again) was well worth the read.

This is a topic that I’m truly interested in learning more about, on a more personal level, but I just can’t seem to wrap my head around how things work. I’ll be keeping an eye out for more stories like this one, as I try to figure out the basics. All you finance lovers should check it out and see if you agree with his assessment.

Writers Ellen McRae wrote a story that I’m almost afraid to mention, just in case she managed to incur the wrath of all the Medium publication editors. Her story titled: Medium Publishers — If I Didn’t Tell You This, I Couldn’t Live With Myself was a 10-minute read that was well worth sitting through until the end!

Not only did she make a lot of highly valid points, but in my opinion, she did so with grace, style and elegance, and I honestly detected no shade. Then again, people tend to read and see what they want to see, so maybe other readers will see something different. Give it a read and see how you feel.

My girl Carmellita is a writer I enjoy reading and sharing her thoughts and views, and boy does she have a lot to say. Read and see doesn’t her story: Self-Awareness and Breaking the 4th Wall of Your Life Story doesn’t blow you away and help you tap into power you never knew you had!

I loved this story, and you will to, especially if you can fully grasp what that 4th wall actually is, as it relates to your life. Trust me, this is an excellent read.

If you’d like to get an interesting take on a word that’s been around forever, see what you think about what Kristen H Short had to say, in a story she calls: Why I Don’t Use The Word “Husband” Anymore.

I enjoyed reading why she adopted this view, after discovering some interesting facts about the word. I didn’t agree with how she feels about the word, but I certainly understood where she was coming from. Maybe you will too.

For anyone looking for some helpful thoughts on being productive, you’ll probably want to stop and read what Tyra Jaide wrote in: You Need To Have a Routine and don’t make the mistake of underestimating what you think you’re going to find.

Good information doesn’t always have to be new, it just needs to be worth reminding. So go see what reminders you can benefit from, and you might just stumble onto something new.

Over the past week, I actually wrote more than one story about general health, and things you can do to help improve your mood, and even reduce your weight.

My focus on health drew me to other writers who were covering similar or related topics, like Medium writer Robert Roy and his story: Fear of Getting Old Can Make You Age Faster.

I love this story about how we tend to create negative self fulfilling prophecies, when we have the wrong mindset about things, such as what it means to get old. All you oldtimers out there like me are gonna love this one! Read it.

Final Thoughts

That’s it for now folks, so be sure to check out the stories I mentioned, and look over the ones I didn’t get a chance to highlight.

Until next week, keep reading and supporting one another.
