We Write to Inspire Ourselves and Each Other on Living Our Best Lives

Why I should be considered a writer for the esteemed Dep Book Project by Dancing Elephants Press

Answering the call to write

My heart yearns to write!

I wake up each day with joy and I write.

I write because I desire to be a writer whose words serve to educate, elucidate, and till the fertile ground of the reader's imagination.

There has never been a time when I did not love words.

Words have distracted, entertained, enlightened, and saved me in equal parts throughout my life’s journey.

Now that I am a woman of a certain age, I believe I have learned some things worth sharing.

As an introvert and an immigrant from a society where I was taught to “keep my business to myself,” sharing online is no easy task.

Since I share my work on a few social media forums many people I know both personally and professionally have access to my thoughts and the freedom to judge my deepest failures and triumphs.

This creates the briefest moment of indecision each time I write a story. But I press on toward the mark. This is my calling and to that dream I must be true.

The older we get, the less we care about the opinions of others.

At this time of life, it seems more important to share and teach in an effort that someone else may glimpse life through my eyes and come into the understanding that they too can surmount the hurdles life may throw in their path.

To be able to see that other ordinary people have encountered and overcome some of life's challenges can be all the catalyst someone needs to get back up and keep fighting.

At this time being a writer is among a short list of things that I hold truly sacred.

Productivity vs stagnation

My sincere desire is continuing to learn, grow and to help others as we navigate this wilderness called life. We cannot make it alone, and I for one would not even want to try.

Fellowship is everything, and often where our deepest strength comes from.

I share stories and life lessons learned from my personal perspective. I share with a hope that it touches someone deeply. I pray that my words shine a piercing light in the darkness of a life disturbed.

Life has many difficult moments, and one of the reasons I write is to inspire.

We should not see ourselves as victims, but as beings created in God’s image. Beings endowed with the ability to critically think, discern and navigate the world around us.

There will be times when we stumble, and times when we fall, but we must never give up, we must always rise again.

If we are to grow into their authentic selves, we must first realize that we are enough, we are loved, and we can be anything we choose to be.

To become our authentic selves, we must know who we are. Only then are we able to begin living our best lives.

“I used to be afraid about what people might say or think after reading what I had written. I am not afraid anymore, because when I write, I am not trying to prove anything to anyone, I am just expressing myself and my opinions. ― Bangambiki Habyarimana
