We took in a trans cat.

A few months ago, it was decided we should adopt a kitten to be a companion for our 12-year-old cat Issy.
I believe the decision to adopt was influenced by the fact my step daughter’s cat had produced kittens. However, whatever the reason, the adoption went ahead, and we took possession of a beautiful kitten named Bella.
Bella settled in very well, although the incumbent feline member of the household, Issy, did not take to this newcomer very well. But we assumed she would soon get used to Bella and relax.
The time came when Bella had to visit the vet for an early check- up.
I waited outside the vets, while my wife took Bella inside.
After a short while, they both re-emerged. I was informed Bella was actually a fella. The initial examination claiming him/her as a female was incorrect. Not an uncommon thing our vet told my wife.
So we changed Bella’s name to Fella.
I am pleased to say he suffered no emotional trauma from this sudden transformation.
He breezed through his snip operation and is now a boisterous male kitten, turning into a boisterous male cat.

However, he has yet to learn the rules of hunting. This morning he caught a mouse in our garden. While he was toying with it a Magpie swooped down and stole it from him.
Very predatory birds those magpies.
Unfortunately, Issy, our older female cat, has not taken to him as well as we hoped. Well, that’s women for you. 😅
I would like to thank Gareth Willey for giving me the idea for this post.
