We Take the Stars for Granted

Photo by Federico Beccari on Unsplash

We take the stars for granted

As they grace us with their light

We barely even notice

As they flicker in the night

We take the stars for granted

After billions of years of flight

They crash upon our shores

We are blinded to their plight

We take the stars for granted

We block out their view

We shroud the earth in toxins

And cloud out their hue

We take the stars for granted

Most are lost to the urban pollute

We fail to even glance up

On our daily commute

We take the stars for granted

There splendor all abound

We never stop to wonder

The glory they expound

Time and Distance

Beyond our fathom

An empty black

They cross the chasm

Don’t take the stars for granted

As you go about your days

grant the stars your presence

As they share their ancient rays
