Summary

The text reflects on the peculiarity of human existence, pondering its beginning and end, and suggests a continuity of existence beyond our earthly life.

Abstract

The author of "Book Of Lita" muses on the enigmatic nature of existence, questioning why humans rarely contemplate their sudden appearance on Earth and the implications of their finite lives. The narrative challenges the common acceptance of life's temporality, proposing instead that our existence is part of a larger, spiritual continuum. It is posited that the Earth, while existing for billions of years, is relatively young compared to the universe, and that human life is an even shorter, yet significant, episode within this grand timeline. The author expresses a personal certainty in the pre- and post-earthly existence of the soul, despite the lack of tangible memories from this supposed greater existence. The text invites readers to consider the profound and often unspoken questions surrounding our presence in the universe, suggesting that the Earth's existence within the spiritual realm is not just parallel but also a subset of it.

Opinions

  • The author finds it odd that the profound questions of existence are not central to daily life and contemplation.
  • There is a belief that human existence does not begin and end with life on Earth, but is part of a greater, spiritual existence.
  • The idea that our lives are confined to a short span on Earth is questioned, with the author feeling that this life is a small but important part of a larger journey.
  • The absence of memories from a potential pre-earthly existence is noted, with the suggestion that such memories would alter the nature of our earthly experience.
  • The Earth is described as being only a third as old as the universe, which the author finds striking and indicative of the vastness of the cosmos compared to our relatively brief existence.
  • The text implies that societal norms may consider deep existential contemplation unusual or abnormal, which the author finds backward.
  • The author hopes that readers will engage with the profound aspects of existence and enjoy their conscious experience.

Book Of Lita

We just started existing one day.

Does this blow your mind?

We just started existing one day.

Isn’t that weird?

It’s so interesting to me that we almost never get into these questions. That they’re not a central part of our daily lives and ponderings.

We just accept it.

Yeah we exist. We didn’t exist before, we do now, and we’ll stop existing again in an unknown amount of time. What of it?

Do you wonder if you existed before this life? If you’ll keep existing after?

I do. In fact, I feel quite certain that we do. I don’t know why. Something about just starting to exist on earth one day out of nowhere just never made sense to me.

Disappearing upon death doesn’t make sense to me either.

I don’t know why. Others seem so certain that our lives are restricted to this short time on earth. Personally, I feel this is a very small part of our greater existence. Small, but important.

So why wouldn’t we remember? If we were already existing before this life, where’s the proof? Where are the memories?

Mostly likely, there’s little to none.

At least while we’re here on earth. Well, this experience of earth.

Why? Because this world is not that world. If we could remember the other world, it would fundamentally change the nature of our time on earth.

Hmm.. Not two worlds. I didn’t say that right.

Instead, this world exists within the greater spiritual world. Not just in parallel, but almost like a subset as well, if that makes sense.

When did you start existing? I mean, here on earth.

How many years ago was it there you weren’t here?

Twenty? Fifty? One hundred?

And how old is the earth? The universe?

Billions.

Isn’t that crazy?

The setting we’re living in literally is billions of years old. But our existence, which stems from the setting, is but a teeny tiny drop in the vast ocean.

It really is a candle in the wind situation.

You know what else is crazy? The earth is roughly 4 billion years old. The universe, 13 billion. At least that’s what they say.

That’s right, the earth has existed about a third of the time as the universe.

Why is that weird?

I don’t know… It just hits me in a weird way.

The earth is just so little and the universe… is big.

How is the Earth only a third as old as the vast, grand Universe?

The craziest part of existence is how no one even talks about it. If you bring it up, it’s as if you’re the crazy one.

Really?

Thirty-something years old and you never contemplated your own existence? And you think there’s something wrong with me?

That seems backwards.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy existence today!
