We are the Sum of All There Is
Poem to celebrate Black Women and Women of Colour
We, dear sistahs of colour, are the cumulative call of the Ancestors, the womb of the Earth, the wave of the oceans.
We are the source of all that there is, the osmosis of Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn.
The strike of lightning, the flow of lava, the starry night sky, the single rose in bloom.
We are the sum of our ancestors, mothers and aunts, sisters and nieces.
Womb to womb. Breast to breast.
We gather up our ovaries* (thank you Nada Chehade) and create a storm.
A storm of eternal peace, love, justice and freedom for all.
One breath.
One word.
One mindful movement.
One living, breathing ancestral woman at a time.
Special thanks to Nada Chehade, Henery X, Melanie J. and all supporters of women of colour writers doing our thing to make the world a more inclusive, loving and harmonious space. Thank you.
