Summary

The Make-A-Mom’s Wish Foundation, inspired by a significant donation from Nestlé, aims to fulfill the heartfelt and varied wishes of mothers across the United States.

Abstract

The Make-A-Mom’s Wish Foundation, an extension of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, has been granted the ability to grant wishes to mothers through a generous donation from the Nestlé Corporation. This initiative seeks to recognize and reward the sacrifices made by mothers by making their dreams a reality. A nationwide prompt was issued to gather what life-changing wishes moms would want granted, resulting in a diverse array of responses ranging from simple pleasures like a delicious salad to more complex desires such as a brief stint in prison for a change of pace. The foundation hopes that sharing these wishes will inspire others to contribute and support their mission to bring joy and fulfillment to mothers' lives.

Her wish is our command.

We at the Make-A-Wish Foundation have been making dreams come true for over 42 years. And now, thanks to a hefty donation from the Nestlé Corporation, we are able to extend our services to another group in need: moms.

Moms today make so many sacrifices for those they love. The least we can do at the Make-A-Mom’s-Wish Foundation is to make some of these moms’ wildest dreams come true.

In celebration of our exciting new venture, we sent out a writing prompt to moms around the country asking a simple question:

“What is the one life-changing wish you would like granted?”

We received millions of responses from dedicated mothers around the country. We hope they will inspire you. And if even one of these messages hits home for you today, we hope you will consider making a recurring donation to our Foundation so that we can fulfill our commitment to making moms’ wishes come true for years to come.

Here are their wishes, in their own words:

Vanessa Clever, 39— New Cumberland, Pennsylvania

Sorry, I shouldn’t have even done this. I really don’t need anything. No, it’s okay I’m fine.

Linda Martinez, 52 — Gainesville, Florida

For my wish, I would just love a really yummy salad. Like you know the ones from that deli you like where the really nice man lets you pick whatever you want in it, and they’re huge? I would love it if you got me one of those. Thank you so much!

Amy Wyzinski, 28 — Santa Clara, California

My wish is to commit a nonviolent crime. I’m thinking some sort of embezzlement or simple money-making scheme, nothing that hurts anyone, but one that comes with some jail time. And because of this crime, I would like to be sentenced to approximately 30–60 days in a minimum security prison where all of my meals are provided for me, nobody whines in my face, and I have nothing to do all day but take hot girl walks around the prison gym yard.

Sandra Bennett, 35 — Detroit, Michigan

My wish is to have an extension built on my home that only I know about. And inside this secret extension that no one knows about, I would like a fridge filled with ice-cold Diet Cokes. And maybe you could throw in a couple of Real Simple magazines and some comfy pillows?

Claire Huong, 37 — Omaha, Nebraska

You wanna hear what my one life-changing wish is? My wish is that for one goddamn day somebody in this house cleans up their goddamn dirty ass dishes from the sink before I come home and have to do it myself.

Samantha Marconi, 42— Peoria, Illinois

For my wish, I would like a moderately severe illness with no long-term symptoms that still requires total isolation in a hospital bed for 3–5 days.

Kathleen Parrelli, 43 — Hoboken, New Jersey

My wish? It’s a little wild, but since you asked: I would love for you to re-make What’s Eating Gilbert Grape with all of the original characters except replace Juliette Lewis with me.

Michelle Martinez, 45 — Windsor, Connecticut

I would just love a really good f#$k. I would love to get f#$ked hard, like rug burns all up and down my back hard. I want to get so f#$ked that [redacted due to explicit content].

Wendy Sampson-Baker, 60 — Plano, Texas

I just want my son to visit once in a while. Not all the time, you know, but once in a while would be nice.

Taylor Mitchell, 48— Marietta, Georgia

This is so sweet of you to ask. But I’ll just give my wish to my son Sam. He needs it more than I do anyway.
