We Are Pretenders

A Short Poem

Photo by Sharon McCutcheon on Unsplash

We all are pretenders, Never want ourselves to be surrendered. Don’t pretend for acceptance, Cause they don’t care if you are absent. Do not pretend who you are not, Cause one day you will be caught. Don’t pretend to be happy, When you are unhappy. We pretend to look gorgeous, Under the Instagram filters. We pretend to like our, best friend’s photo on FB. We are too competitive, With ourselves. So, we don’t give a chance, To be ourselves. Don’t pretend to have a wonderful day, When you feel sad because you had an awful day. You are pretending in front of pretenders, Cause we all are pretenders. Somehow we want to show the people, That we are having a perfect life, When we are having a very low life. Cause we pretend to avoid judgment and criticism. You don’t need to prove to anyone, Where there are imperfections in everyone. You don’t need anyone’s explanation, Don’t be a pretender.
