CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC

We Are Not Ready For The New Normal

Lessons from South Korea and Japan.

Some countries have made good progress on preventing the cases from increasing so steep. Preventions and regulations have made, such as rapid testing on South Korea, the partial lockdown on Singapore that is called the Circuit Breaker (CB), and Japan has a unique case where the people are already aware with COVID-19 despite there is a declaration of emergency from the government.

Because of that, the number of cases start to growing less than the previous time. Many of these countries have commenced for the new normal. Can we start it soon with new habits? No, not so fast.

Let me show you how the progress after the government starts to implement The New Normal, especially in Japan and South Korea.

Left: Japan, Right: South Korea

As we can see from the graph, it shows a decreasing growth, right? It shows excellent progress to prevent the virus spreads. Also, both countries treat the patient really well as we can see from the growth of the death cases.

Therefore, both government starts the new normal, and schools begin to open again. Days after that happened, this is what happened recently in South Korea,

South Korea reports new cases with the highest number in 49 days. It is probably from night club cluster in Seoul, but imagine that probably they don’t have any symptoms and spread it out to their parents. Because of that, the government have closed the school.

Here is what happened to in Tokyo, Japan

Tokyo government issues the alert after 34 daily cases reported. The number increases after it eased the business activities.

Just imagine how can those countries, with good regulations that have made and want to start the new normal, have an increasing amount of cases?

That result is not what we want. Both governments have made another declaration of emergency, and prepare for the incoming second wave from this pandemic.

I have to tell you that the second wave will be more scarier than before.

We do not want the result. Now, Both governments have made another declaration of emergency, and prepare for the incoming second wave from this pandemic.

I have to tell you that the second wave will be more scarier than before. Just take a lesson from 1918’s Spanish Flu where it will cause more deaths on the second wave rather than the first wave. If we do not aware of this, and pretending that this pandemic is already over, the virus will cause more deaths than the first wave.

Conclusion

Since the start of 2020, the coronavirus has made our life change significantly. Flights closed, work from home, go outside with some protocols, and many more.

It makes our life more difficult, and lots of our plans and goals got to cancel because of it. I know that you have been bored, so do I. But, We have to take more effort and unite as one people and one nation.

It’s a marathon and not a sprint. The government should make a quick but have thought the risk that could possibly happen. The people also should aware. Hold the ego and listen to your government.

This pandemic will be a long journey but trust me, we can fight this, and soon we can have our new life. Keep praying for the vaccine can come out soon, and always calm and be happy.

We can do this!
