We Are Not Equals
A poem
To be a white male
Is to be a non fail
In a place that privileges me
And guarantees certainty.
I walk without stop
From my local cop
Who arrests the black man
For doing what he can
To succeed in a place
That was made for whites to ace.
My life is frictionless
Because I’m not worthless
I was born as the default
While blacks are at fault
For not doing what they can
To fit in the society we ran
And we tell them it’s their fault
Since self reliance we assault
On the American brain
That is to keep us sane
But how is it right
To say as a white
That we’re all equal
When today we’re in a sequel
Of a Civil Rights Era
When whites bear a
Gun to their vest
While blacks are doing their best.
To say we are equal
Is a statement that’s fecal
As the black lives who died
Are left to the side
Of injustice and crime
When the crime of our time
Is done by a man with a badge
Who doesn’t give a rat’s ass.
