We Are Fighters…
Or aren’t we?
I took a walk the other day…there was a demonstration ahead… I smiled and kept walking…thinking..
We all talk about love We demonstrate for the rights of others We say NO to wars and we demand equality. We must be so good…we are fighters and we love it And then I walked in front of an orphanage
Where those “loving” parents abandon their babies And they grow up without love, without dreams, full of wounds.
But we are fighters, We ask for equal rights and better conditions And as my walk continued, another building appeared
This time it was a nursing home Where all those “sweet” children abandon their parents Now that they are old and useless… People close to their end, living alone, forgotten by their own children Looking at the door, waiting for them to visit. But no one comes and they feel hurt, without dreams, full of wounds. For, they had sacrificed everything for them and now they do not even have the joy of seeing them. And the time goes by and they know their death is to come! They no longer care, though ,they have nothing to lose.
But we are fighters, we demand a better planet And as the walk continued I saw the mountains They stand there without any trees, empty with dust scattered around And some black barks standing like ghosts of the past No birds sing there any more, no animals run around
Nothing reminds us of the past beauty.
And we call ourselves Humans
and we give up on our children, we abandon our parents and we destroy everything around us. But we are fighters and we fight for humanity and our planet and for a better future….as if we are worth it….
Thank you for reading it my friends. In a way I was inspired by an old Greek song called “We call ourselves Humans” sung by a very special singer, Kostas Hatzis.
