We Are Different But The Same
A poem about how alike we are
Yes, Perushka
We eat different food wear different clothes have different customs speak different tongues
But we all fall in love and get up when we fall
We all want Someone to hold A family to cherish A way to be happy
We all want To Not be afraid of the dark Literally Figuratively Dubiously
We all Want to live a long time And die a good death
What does it matter if we wear a suit, a sari, or a grass skirt
When deep down inside We all cry when we’re hurt Laugh when we’re joyful And feel the rumble in our stomachs When we’re hungry?
Though we look and behave differently We are all the same
All lovely All quiet All human All the same
This August 8th, 2019 article should suffice in its simplicity, but if you find yourself wishing to read more, I invite you to follow up on this thought by reading the words that came through me in a lovely article that offers practical examples of how we can be more accepting of each other.
The article employs Snoopy’s timeless wisdom. The lighthearted humor of the Snoopy character which starts as a dilemma always causes me to pause and ponder the big questions in life. It also draws on our diverse cultural education, about setting boundaries, and on our undisputed right to justice.
Together, I feel that these points help us to understand How to Use Compassion as a Tool to Connect Us AND show us how we are all the same.
“…they eat different food and smell differently; they dress differently and they even worship differently than I do,” says a didactic voice we recognize.
I hope you find value in it.
THANK YOU FOR READING. I Wish You Miracles. Selma.
